Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Looks like an interesting discussion. I'll have to read it later, though. Got SSQ's 50th birthday party tonight, and I just finished baking and crumb-coating his cake! I'm gonna decorate it tomorrow to look like a computer chip! I bought 50 gold candles which will be the 'pins' that are in the chip!
I got most of the picking up done on Friday, so today, we'll just need to dust and vacuum! I think this is the most organized I've ever been for a party at our house. Woo Hoo! I won't be exhausted before the party even starts!

All I got was a red x :O(
What was it?

I am the first one up this morning? - What a lazy, sleepy Hobbit Hole!

Homeschool banquet? Where is it, is it a group? We never got in a group for homeschoolers, we were so busy with Round up Clubs.
BTW, didn't you talk about taking one of your boys to pre-school the other day? Are you going to try schools, public or private?

Morning! Are you up yet? Myranda and I are coming to Temple to check on my Grama today. Depending on her health I am hoping to go to the drive-in. They're showing uhhhhh...... some comic book take-off movie. z-men? no. y-men, that doesn't sound right. x-men? yeah, maybe that's it!.
Anyway, starts at 8:30. $10 per car (- they go up on weekends outside winter)
I have your phone number. Kind of doubt you're up this early. I'll be here online for another 1/2 hour or so though. I'm not really able to make solid plans right now because have to see about Grama's health first. But, if she is all good I may give you a shout even if I don't hear from you here just in case.

Well, we went and saw the Matrix Reloaded last night and have very mixed feelings about it.
As far as its R-rating, it is well deserved and I, personally, would be very uncomfortable watching it with a teenage boy. The sex was gratuitous and overdone. I wish the W bros would have applied PJ's "it must advance the plot" criteria and cut everything that didn't. The pace and the content would have been much improved.
If the sex was overdone, so was everything else. The music was awesome and the visuals were still stunning (especially the freaky twins) but kung-fu every five minutes (for ten minutes at a time) got a little silly. Also, the whole philosophy angle grew tiresome. Too many riddles, not enough discovery, no resolution. The first movie was so satisfactory because the questions raised in the beginning were answered by the end.
Reloaded suffers 'sequel syndrome' as I heard one reviewer put it. They tried to make a movie out of just the most popular aspects of the original namely, kung-fu and philosophy at the expense of a good story. Reloaded certainly cannot stand on its own and I look forward to its conclusion with Revolutions.
I'm sure I'll enjoy it more after a second viewing and might have some more favorable things to say about it.

I'm up! Good morning! Rose is still in bed.
Will have to see if we're up to it... Rose has indicated she doesn't want to do anything but sit home and vegetate today (she's been working a lot of overtime lately) but her mood may change by this afternoon. Feel free to give us a call later today to see how the wind is blowing!
Oh, and have a safe trip! ;)

Reading your kids in church comment made me think... that tends to happen when kids are allowed to sit with their friends in church. I've noticed it everywhere, if they sit without parents, it's fun time. If they're in a pew with their folks they're better.
But I think church should be a family experience anyway. We spent a year looking for a church one time, and one of the things we were looking for was a place without "children's church", where everyone worshipped together.
Good morning! It's Saturday...

Oh, and have a safe trip! ;) Thanks. I will make sure of that. Have to go to Ft. Worth first then to Temple. After calling down there the tone suggests that we may not be going to be able to go to the drive-in after all. :-( I hate to drive all that way and miss X-Men. But, I will know in plenty of time to let ya'll get ready and drive up if it turns out we can.
Totally understand about Rose. I wasn't really wanting to make the trip this weekend but Myranda doesn't want to go to Germany without seeing Grama first. Understandable. She leaves for Germany June 1 so we've not much time left. Dadburned power steering fluid has all leaked out again too!!!

Good Morning!
It's a bit drizzly here today but I should go to The House anyway....got a trunk full of firewood all ready to tote over there. Perhaps it won't be too wet this afternoon.
Besides....I'm bringing my sister some cookies. :)
To: Overtaxed
Aww, how sweet. I never thought of you as the Home Ec type..
I'll bet you, uh, burned these cookies?

he he he... ya'll need to visit our church in Waco sometimes. The youth all sit together. But, they don't do those antics. The youth pastor and wife have big sticks like Hair has. And the senior pastor would not be above using his stick either. LOL. Nevertheless, the youth group is large and the kids love it. This is the youth pastor that Myranda has determined is her role model in her call to be a YP.
of course, waco, you know about us.... and since the place burned..... just joking!!! couldn't resist. It's a regular old AG church.
To: Wneighbor
I know all about AoG churches! I used to go to one. You wouldn't be happy at my church, though; it's about as far from AoG as you can get. Well, maybe Catholic or Anglican would be farther...
I love our church, though. I think if I had stayed at the AoG I might have ended up studying religion; I think theology is fascinating. But I wouldn't make a very good missionary. And the PCA does not ordain women.
It's just as well. Computer science is really my love.

Yes burned a bit. I try to avoid making cookies for myself. Don't need to be eating them all
When it comes to food I'm the Home Ec type: love to eat, don't care much for housekeeping and sewing.
To: Wneighbor
It's a regular old AG church. Agriculture church?
To: Overtaxed
I'm off to the cemetery cleanup day and then some lounging at the beach house afterwards!
See y'all later!

One should always refer to demoninations by their initials: PCA, AG, ECLA...
What would the abbreviations for the Mormon church be?
