The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Mine either. Right now he seems to be licking himself. Presumably after that he will have a meal, and a nap.

They must have the same job description. Mine is already at the nap stage.

At least the dog has given herself a bunch of duties: protecting against people who walk by, keeping bunnies and birds out of the yard, etc....the cat feels no such duty to help out around the place.

Well my cat lets me know when someone comes down the driveway. She ducks under the nearest blanket.

I watched the parade in Steve Largent's office!

Well, we did Bush the Elder at the bar.

Jr. and I did the swearing in for George W. and skipped the parade. He wanted to do the Smithsonian anyway since we hadn't been in a number of years.

I on the other hand was worred about the fact that my transmission went out just as we pulled into the Metro garage. I said "okay Lord, I'm not going to ruin his day." When we got back the station manager helped us get some transmission fluid and we made it home okay. It was a God thing because three days later the transmission was completely gone. So, flat broke we walked into a dealer and drove off the lot with a brand new 2001 Mini-van. Then when we got the cash we rebuilt the transmission.

I hate throwing up more than most things in life.

Same here. I joke about the fact that when I had my cancer surgery and radiation I wanted to know two things 1) will it hurt? and 2) will I throw up?

The answer was yes to both.

Actually, after the first day of treatment I came home and took the medicine they gave me for nausea and promptly threw it up. Next day, I took it before I went. That helped but I swear I only had three weeks of treatment but was nauseous for the next year and a half...

And tonight is, of course, Matrix Reloaded.

I'll need your report please. Can I take Jr. We can handle the violence and even language. But what about the sex stuff?

He's never seen Titanic other than on network TV because of the drawing scene...

I'm no fool. He's 14 and not naive. But I don't have to provide if for him.

The baby went to bed at 8pm but she has gotten up once already.

It's a quiet night in the Hole, or is it always like this?

Can I take Jr.

Check THIS out! If we take Joseph, we'll be ready to cover his eyes during certain parts of the movie. We may have to go once before we take him so we'll be ready!

You would not believe the cacophony in my house when a squirrel runs along the fence line (Hair probably would, actually). It is mayhem and noise -- airport level noise -- until the sliding glass door is opened and out shoots two crazed dogs at 747 volume. They once caught (and killed) a squirrel in the woods (ran it down from 50 yards away), and since then squirrels have had this effect on our household peace.

My cat is more the quiet stalker type. She pads up to the sliding glass door with her tail parallel to the floor and just all in a stalk mode.

Um... no. Afraid not. There were two bits that were just too explicit. Fortunately they should be easy to skip on video.

That was cool...
