Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Never watched Bob Newhart. Me either. I take it it has something to do with Vermont, though...all through my time in the military when people would ask me where I was from, a good percentage would respond with "Oh! Newhart country." I have no idea what that means!
Some responded that way, and a much higher percentage said "What state is that in?" Duh.

The original show where he was a psychiatrist was in New York.... then they did a spinoff show where he retired and bought an Inn in Vermont.

It seems to be a busy time for all our dwarves.... I'm back! I'm back! (you may know that by now...)
Bored meeting went okay. Boss and supervisor were both out sick. And when the Chairman has hay to put up he runs a no nonsense meeting.
But I walked in and my supervisor is here, with a list of stuff for me. So I can't leave quite as early as I had hoped.
Then again, I called home and Jr. came home in a mood. So maybe I don't wanna leave just yet...

they did a spinoff show where he retired and bought an Inn in Vermont.But it wasn't revealed to be a spinoff until the final episode. (Cracks me up just thinking about it.) Still ranks as the all-time greatest final episode for a show. Makes Seinfeld's look like crapola.

OK, I have to butt in...
The original Bob Newhart Show was about a psychiatrist named Bob in New York. His second show, "Newhart", was not a spinoff of the first. In "Newhart" Bob played a guy named Dick Louden, who wrote how-to books and bought an inn in Vermont to run. Dick had a different wife from Bob, too.
However...
The last episode of "Newhart" kind of confused things. In it, a Japanese businessman comes in and buys up the entire town, to make it into a resort town. Dick, however, refuses to sell. Things start to get weird, until the very end...
When Bob the psychiatrist wakes up in bed, turns to his wife from the first show (Emily), and says, "I just had the strangest dream!"
