The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

All I heard is that the Texas GOP lady wants them prosecuted for having closed legislative debates....or something. I'll try to find the thread.

What are osage orange seeds? I've never heard of them (but I'll take 'em anyway).

WOW!!!! Wneighbor!!!! Thank you for doing all of that!

Hair - I am thinking November (if possible and if it is still going on??) to have a visit from Flat Frodo....or I might be able to convince a friend of mine to purchase one (she's a Frodo fanatic herself) and we can make due with that one...Im sure she is looking for a reason to get that little standup...she can tell her hubby its for 'patriotic purposes'...what with the decision to build a new house and everything, plus a Provincial Synod for our church in October, I dont think I should plan for anything until then. But then if it only takes a week or so, then maybe in August or September.

Great FReep, and great report! We'll turn Channel 8 on, they repeat their reports over and over, so we'll probably get to see you! :)

Great story! That sounds like more fun than even the Support the Troops rallies were up here in peacenik-land.

I'm ready for them to catch 'em all. Those folks from OK that were carrying signs with me were real nice but I ribbed 'em a little about having a haven for fugitives.

like uh, i'm runnin' short of cash, i'm gonna rob a bank in wichita and come up here so ya'll can put me up - okay?

November sounds fine.... October for Texas, and into November as needed. MBY has also suggested a second Frodo, but IMHO it *should* be the official Frodo in order to count! - And that we should only get a second one if it becomes clear he will not be able to be everywhere before January....

But that is just my humble opinion, any comments from the gallery?

Oh, I forgot. My sign was just the Real Texans Don't Run.

Great after-action report! If you go back again, how about adding a "FR/HHD" somewhere on the corner of the sign. Maybe somebody will ask you about it, and then you can pitch FR and our little corner of it. Either that, or at least have the FR URL somewhere, just like "John 3:16".

Just suggestions, you did a great job.

Scott; osage-orange (Maclura pomifera) a wonderful tree that provides wood for many uses, among them, wood bows. ;-) its only challenger is your own pacific northwest tree - the Pacific Yew (Taxus brevifolia).

shucks. I wasn't doing anything ya'll wouldn't want to do too if you had the time off and were this close. I'm real tired. I was on my feet most of the day. But, it was an experience. I truly wish that it would bear fruit in the legislature though. unfortunately, I think that's a pipe dream.

I'm in favor of the "official" Frodo.

I guess we can take him next....sister said "whenever" although I don't really have much up in the garden yet...wet spring....I didn't get a cool crop in. :(

Hehe, I like to keep my eye on the bottom line! ;)

We're looking at the possibility of a move ourselves... staying within Austin, but moving from one house to another. I know my mind is boggled just with that!

Have you thought of renting a small apartment to stay in while you're in Boise, and visiting home on the weekends? That way, you can manage the move on your own schedule and not have to rush it all at once.

We are gardeners (my wife and I) so we'll certainly give it a go -- though we'll need to take care because Boise is a very different climate than the west coast - but obviously cold winters shouldn't be a problem, since you have those in Missouri!

I would have loved being up there with you today... I would have had a blast yelling at and making fun of the Chicken D's. And with my current look, none of the news weenies would expect me to be supporting the Republican position! ;)

Yes, that is one possibility. But we have two Dalmatians -- which for selling our house here will be better in Boise (hee hee). So we may try to vacate this house, and move into a rental house in or around Boise, and buy there more at our leisure. That's probably how we'll do it.

Think of what it would've been like had my 80 or so resumes that went to Austin had borne fruit! Now that would've been a move!
