Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Cool!

I don't think chickens have a deep sense of identity that will be horribly wrecked by this!
I have a friend with a female dog named Edgar.
To: HairOfTheDog
Well, Matthew got his name from that chicken on Garfield...the only chicken he's ever really known, I guess, not being familiar with Foghorn. And Joshua just likes the name Jar Jar.
Here's an interesting article, if you're bored. From the Humane Society...

they love to watch television. Many also enjoy classical music, preferring the faster symphonies to the slower ones. Will there be a television in the chicken coop?
To: 2Jedismom
Betcha they'd like whistle music! ;-)

"Hey, I bet those would be fun for the boys and cheep!"You did that on purpose, didn't you. ;^)

Where've you been? We've missed having you around. Are you coming to entmoot? HI all!! Just a brief stop...Corin can you email the link to your blog for me? I miss talking with y'all too!!! I wish I could come to the entmoot, but I can't. Our church is having its synod in Florida and I can't even come to that!! We are house-hunting and trying to finish up erstwhile projects around the house that we have let go in order to get it ready to put on the market. I gotta tell ya guys, I am so excited about getting out of the house we are in but sick at heart about having to pull my daughter out of private school in order to do it. Hubby has been HIGHLY resistant to me doing homeschooling, and if we get into a more expensive house, I will definitely have to take a part-time job.
It may sound like a bunch of materialism, but we are genuinely sick our of our neighborhood. We just found out recently through the home-owners association (hubby just got onto the board recently to see what he could do about the punks who like to drive around in the area with their noisy boom boxes and mufflers) that the Texas Justice Department has the legal wherewithal to go into a community and rent up to six houses and set them up as half-way houses...and there is at least one on our block. I was already scared of letting my daughter play in the front yard, but now I am ready to quit this place altogether.
I have been told by several people that the Fort Bend ISD 'really isn't that bad...that people are quite pleased.' But I am not so sure they have the same viewpoint as I do about what is important for a child to learn. But my parents assure us that as long as Chief and I maintain our involvement and stand firm on our convictions and standards, Little Miss Giggle Face will turn out okay. We already give strong encouragement for sciences and math, which she loves.
But she has THRIVED since going into private school!!
I am SO torn!! I want a brand new house in a nice quiet neighborhood with other children Erin can play with, but I keep mulling over the various stories I have heard of problems in teh public schools...and I keep remembering what it was like for me. I didn't really feel like myself until I got to college!!

Hey, I cancelled my teeth cleaning that was next week...
Sudden lack of health insurance is a dern good excuse...you can use it if you need.
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Eeeek. No, I can't. If I go more than six months, my dad tells me his Pariodontia story again.
To: Corin Stormhands
CORIN, I LOVE IT!!! I have gone ahead and made a special post on my blog about it.
If you'd like to add a comments part, here is a good service. Don't panic if you get a notice after two weeks. They cancel things like feedback notification and the ability to change the appearance of your comments, but the actual service remains.

This is exciting. I am hoping I can make my move within the next couple of weeks. Verve.com hosting looks good, but I have run across a couple of others. They tell me with Moveable Type you have complete control and I was told that Verve is VERY responsive in customer service. I also suggest as a host EZhoster, but they are a bit expensive, but VERY reliable in customer service as well. They host my church's website...and when our bandwidth exceeded its original limit, the manager gave the church extra for free! So I am trying to figure out who I should patronize...
I am very impressed!
