The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hehe... here is a thread that degenerated quickly into references to 42. It started out kinda philosophical, too...

I think it probably depends.... I sent him 3-day, which is three business days. I don't know if he would arrive a day earlier since he is already on that coast.

Too bad Frodo can't take pictures. They'll probably just drive him around just to make it 3 days.

Would it be all right to spam my way past all those hunk pics? They take up extra time when I refresh the thread... /whine

We're going to watch Matrix here...

I was just checking the info about Matrix Reloaded on the 'Kids in Mind' website. We were gonna let our oldest son take Clare & Joseph to see it this Sat. night, but there's just a little too much sex in this one according to the description. The violence we don't mind because it is essentially cartoon violence; at least the first one was that way. We're gonna wait until WE can see it first before we let Joseph go, or we'll just take him later and cover his eyes at the inappropriate moments. So either they'll see a different movie, or they'll stay home and watch movies downstairs while we're having SSQ's birthday party.

I went and got decorations for the party today. I got a Tiki-man windsock to hang by the front door, and Tiki-man paper plates and napkins. I got paper plates for the cake, but I'd already bought some neat divided plastic plates for the REAL food. I got a cool foil palm tree that hangs from the ceiling, and a garland with palm trees and hibiscus flowers. It's gonna be so much fun, but now I gotta clean my house. UGH!

Well, ok, I won't do it.

Besides, in answering your answer to my question, it's no longer necessary!

Thank you!

I like that side by side, Legolas/Swashbuckler duo. Orly looks cool in the costume for the 'Pirates' movie. I saw the preview for that one last week. It looks like it will be good!

We'll be leaving for NY early on June 27th. I had thought about taking him with us to Montana and Yellowstone later in August, but I don't know how well he'd do on the plane. Is he small enough to get put inside my luggage?

Hey All! I'm starting to think that really big job news is just around the corner for me...

The Boise thing is getting mighty serious. Yesterday, I arranged a meeting with the Boise Commissioners on my own on June 2, since I was already meeting people in Salt Lake and Jackson. When I did that, they asked me for references, and I sent them a bunch of 'em. Today I get a note from the Commissioner that she doesn't want to wait on this position any longer and is going to have it advertised (that's required) for a week and then cut it off on May 28 (four days before my scheduled interview with them). They're going to do a contract until their fiscal year ends, then make it a permanent position. She let me know this, feeling out if that would be acceptable to me (I told her it was).

This whole thing happened because I told them that I was meeting other people and wanted to touch base with them too. Man, did they get a fire lit under them! All of a sudden my meet and greet turns into a real job with a fast start date. It kind of appears they set this all up simply to hire me before anyone else could. We'll see, but I may have an actual offer on the table on June 2 or shortly thereafter with a much quicker start date than I anticipated.

OMG -- I really have to get ready to move!

Depends how big your luggage is.... He is 28 inches long (I think) in the box now. So.... I guess you can take a look when he is there in June...

But - If you don't need him till June 27, We might be able to get him to one, maybe two stops at least! So where should he go next? Who's ready?

What is the attraction to "American Idol"? - I have never watched it, but isn't it just like Star Search?

I simply cannot imagine the complexity of the move! Sell here, buy there (maybe rent there in between). All the notifications and transfer of things like Internet access, etc.

It'll blow the mind if thought about...so I'll just let it happen as it does. I never thought it might happen this fast!
