The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

That should read June 2 -- not January 2 -- my brain's not functions.

What will happen to you when the asteroid hits the planet and a tidal wave wipes you out?

Boats. We have boats here.

Yah. That'll help when the mile-high wall of water hits.

I hope you can swim!

maybe I picked up from him that emotional displays aren't important.

It also might be a father/daughter thing. Sometimes men just feel uncomfortable being too expressive with their daughters.

About your parents and your sister, don't forget, they get to EAT the results of her education! ;o)

If it is a mile high wall of water, you are swimmin' too. Probably will be tryin' to get sneak into our boats.

I have never fished in it, but, from the one time I saw the harbor, and rode around in it, there's fish there. lots of them, I bet.

Good Night Sam!

I am exhausted from the sensory bombardment of the city. Need to curl up with my dog and a hobbit story!

See y'all in the morning!

Or at least Mom does, but I understand that she relates better to my sister than she does to me. I've always had more (everything, really) in common with my dad. And he's stand-offish, like me... maybe I picked up from him that emotional displays aren't important.

I understand a whole lot of what you're saying. A lot of corresponding relationship issues with my parents. My mom has always been pretty disgusted with me because I didn't do the debutante thing like her. HUH, can you imagine - me? a debutante? But, in college, my GPA is a 3.94. Nobody ever quite noticed that.

I am extremely fortunate in that I've had a grama that's always noticed me and made me special. We aren't even all that huggy and stuff, but we talk like crazy. Always have. I've always been able to tell her everything. And that was better than hugging. Gee! Talking to Grama was just like coming to the Hobbit Hole. Always listening and not condemning. I guess the only people I really show affection to are my daughters and granddaughters. But, I don't really feel stuffy for not being physically demostrative. I kind of get into affection more in a practical joking way a lot anyway.

While we're all rightfully mocking the defecting RAT Texas legislators, we should also realize that this really isn't a laughing matter. It's another matter of utter disregard for the law, which was brought to new lows by the klintons. They ignore the law when they're in power, they ignore it when they're out of power. In the minority, they seem to posess more power than the majority (shades of 1917 Russia). When caught, they whine "it's not fair" (NOT "it's not legal"). If they were in the majority, everyone would marvel at their "political mastery" in redistricting.

This is the same attitude klinton showed when he beat the rap in the Seante with a rigged impeachment trial. He knew the word got out to enough senators that bad things would start happening if he didn't "walk". Now the entire party behaves the same way, and mostly gets away with it.

I thought the 2000 election was an attempted coup by the klintons to steal the vote for their puppet Algore. Considering how the entire party is now acting that way, and mostly getting away with it, I have an awful feeling that if ANY democRAT is elected president, Bill and Hitlery will remain in power forever, with rigged elections and (re-)rigged media.

So while we mock these losers, remember that they're playing for keeps. Texas lawmakers take an oath of office, and I don't think fleeing to another state in order to shut down the legislative process because you're going to lose is consistent with that oath. We know that oaths mean nothing to the klintons, and not to the RATs in Texas. What a stain on an honorable Southern tradition to value your sworn word above everything else.
