The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I was thinkin' we could just start an elf swoon.

Now, ya'll G.R.I.T.S. know it's the wimmin that leave when they get the vapors...

Heh... if you had suggested that at a comic-book convention, you would have been more than "noticed"!

I think so. That or the "Horatio Hornblower" section should be.

As a matter of fact the last two pages have been much easier, and much more fun, than the first six. Yay me!

Sheesh! Even with the black beast sitting here with me, I'd like to bring Bear home...

No, I don't know why people get dogs they don't want in their lives.

They're naive enough to do it "for the kids" and they just don't realize the attention animals need. As much as I grouse about our Sammy, I can't imagine not having him around.

Had we known Luke was coming we would have waited for a dog, or would have gotten an economy sized dog.

But Sammy's a good boy.

I'm flattered, but I'm already spoken for...

What?

Oh, drat.

Thanks!

I think I'm going to ostracize this character from the society she's in. Gotta get to the bottom before you can start getting out.

Excellent idea! A good way for your character to show what she's made of!

There. 2500 words today. Chapter 1 finished. And it sets the stage pretty nicely.

I'm going to bed now. See you all tomorrow!

You know I love ya WN. But I can't think of anyone for whom I would walk up to a strange elfy looking person (presumably male?) and say "are you available?"

That's priceless. I had the loudest laugh I've had since my friend Martha went home 2 weeks ago!!! I read all this to Myranda and she's laughed out loud too!

This is her last month of her senior year. She just today figured out what I've been telling her for the last 4 years. She's popular. Lots of male people like her. They just don't ask her out because they're too intimidated by an intelligent, gorgeous elf-chick to know how to ask her out! Some of them that have become friends with her figured out that she had this esteem issue today and sat her down and had a talk with her about it. She's saying, "Mom, they like me, they really like me." keep in mind this is a drama queen we're talking about, so it's a big deal.

All the same, I've noticed us elf-lovers sure can clear the room of ya'll dwarves quick when we start talking about lovely aspects of elf-men.

By the way, do you think you'll be able to swing down this way for the Matrix showing May 16?

I don't think so Bear. Right now I'm stuck at the house completely without transportation at least tonight. Power steering completely went out on the pickup this afternoon. Of course I drove it home from work but fluid leaked out within 1/2 mile of work after I'd just filled it up. The old Chevy is down waiting for my mechanic to replace valve cover gaskets and the bike is waiting for a new primary gaskets.

Did I miss the newsflash that April was the month for vehicle fluid leaks or something? I imagine after paying for all these repairs and sending Kevin a check out today I will not be making any trips the rest of the month.

Ugh, I can sympathize. I'm going to have to put our car in the shop next week... it's making a squeek that I think is the brakes. I'm dreading the repair bill... and today was my last day of work, so I'm back on the dole again.
