Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I told his wife something like that. Can't remember what exactly. Something about if I wanted to be in confrontation with some guy all the time I'd still be married or something.
To: Sam Cree
I have a feeling he may have taken meals at the University dining hall or something? That's fine for him, but what did his wife and kids do?
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
I did Restart and went back over. Got the same thing, then a message that I had been disconnected. When I said "yes" I would like to be reconnected, nothing happened.
I dunno. I didn't have time to stay anyway, was just gonna say hello.
I'll try again later. I've got to get to work on some other stuff (dinner would be one of those...)
To: JenB
we aren't chat/viewing but we're in chat. I was very late getting things going here.
To: Wneighbor
Well, I'd pop over but if I do I'd be there for an hour and I really need to read something over before bed.

Well, darn. Wish I knew why your computer(s) are allergic to Yahoo! ...
To: SuziQ
SSQ loves Wild Turkey for sippin whiskey! I'm partial to Virginia Gentleman myself. ;-)
But I seem to be getting into enough trouble without the sippin whiskey.

Reckon it's my firewall?
I R ignorant about these things...
To: Corin Stormhands
reboot and try again.... If your Java gets jumbled, that is the only cure.

didn't work, I went all the way off this time, not just restart.
I've gotta run anyway. Talk with y'all tomorrow.
To: Corin Stormhands
We saw you for an instant, then you were gone :~(
See ya later....

Firewall? Well, yes, it could be your firewall, actually. The fact that the problem is happening on the new system points away from it being a software issue, and instead to something in the connection, IMHO. The nature of a firewall is to block intrusive connections, so it may be doing something to thwart the Yahoo chat client.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Something is very wrong here on the slag heaps. I got hosed from chat. Chat says I'm not allowed back in. FR is verryyy verrryyyyyyyy sssslllooooowwwww.. I think I must have been too friendly with Corin. I'm booted.
To: Wneighbor; HairOfTheDog
Well, pretty much everyone else is gone, except for Hair, and she's not talking.
Have you tried rebooting and redialing?
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Just did both. this is really slow. Will try to go to chat now.
To: Wneighbor
Oh sure, I'll take it, Wneighbor, thanks, you are a nice lady.
Just got in from painting class.

Well, again, I get an error report in chat. I rebooted again to no avail. I think it's bedtime. I've been up far too late the last 2 nights moving furniture.
OT and Sam the ribeye's were perfect. Hope they were good for you too.
To: SuziQ
I think his kids were grown by then and his wife probably ate with him?
