Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I read that book, Sam... It kinda was stupid, but as you said, very funny and a little scary. It got me all exasperated at the greens and libs, but what else is new?
Hi guys. It was another beautiful day here that I have had no time to enjoy, and tonight I have to figure out what to wear tomorrow night to service because I will have maybe half an hour to get ready and leave tomorrow night. Ugh.
And my mother wants me to get a second job this summer! She must hate me!

Apparently not. I'm having financial issues and I think this summer will be spent at home.... working on graduate school admissions.

Really! If it weren't for financial issues, I could retire!

I've hardly been out of the house in days...waiting on plumbers, then waiting on insurance phone calls. Now I'm set...all set. The "fixers" will be here tomorrow at noon and there is really nothing I can do (except keep the water turned off when not in use) until then. I need groceries in the worst way.

We think it might actually be the dishwasher. Our dishwasher developed an 'incontinence problem' after we'd been in the house about 10 yrs. We just yanked that sucker out and got a new one. We began noticing that they vinyl floor in the kitchen was beginning to discolor in the area just around the d/w. Then one night, it just let go and we had to use almost every towel in the house to soak up the water!
We have a Sears Appliance Outlet store in our town, and it's lucky for us because we've now had to replace ALL the appliances that came with the house. They are 'scratch and dent' specials, and the best deal we've gotten so far was a 25 cu.ft. capacity side by side refig.freeezer with ice maker for about $800, which is about $600 less than a perfect one would have cost! I don't care about the tiny surface imperfections; heck, after a couple of years around here, they're going to get that anyway!

Daniel Berry joined a crowed of teenagers watching the gun be fired. When it misfired, Daniel Berry looked down the barrel to see what was wrong when the gun went off, Patton said.
"He said it just went off. It was a misfire. It hit him square in the face," Lisa Berry said, adding that her son had broken bones in his face that would require surgery.
It did not, however, "just go off" by itself, seconds after failing to fire. It is only going to go off if there is a spark, unless they are using the slowest accelerant in the world.
They are protecting the kid who fired it perhaps, OK... I can understand that. I am sure it was a careless accident.
