Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

**Ahem** "MINI Dwarf?" Racist.LOL! AM NOT! You know what I meant! Pppppffftttt! (Best bi-labial fricative I can muster!)
With all this talk about 1040s, let's be kind to our dwarves, since they always find themselves "a little short" this time of year.

Same for hobbits!

Sounds like reasonably good health. None of them had to be carried! It's funny, but I woke up at about 5:30 this morning and the POWs were so heavy on my mind. I'd been reading stuff about folks hearing people underground, but not being able to get to them. I worried that they were without food and water if their Iraqi minders had left them. I prayed myself back to sleep about 7 am. I didn't turn on the TV cause I didn't want to wake SSQ; if I had, I'd have known about them! I'm glad I didn't though, cause I would have stayed up watching all the news about them and wouldn't have gone back to sleep. I needed that sleep cause I had been up til about 3 catching up on FR and watching the news. Finally got up about 10:30, feeling better, and hearing the news about our folks made it that much more wonderful!
To: SuziQ
Wow! Sounds like you might need a nap this afternoon.

Oh, Sam... thank you for the warm wishes, but my birthday's not until May the First! I think my post yesterday was confusing, wasn't it?
All these spring birthdays! Must be a good time of year to be born!

Hi, Corin. I figure I am really more of a hobbit than a dwarf, since I am kind of introverted and all. Well, you (and yer shine of course) are always welcome to hang out with the dwarves.

I am only one day older than you!Fat chance, my first vote was for Goldwater for President! Of course your birthday is one day earlier each year!
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
I get vote for President next time... last time I was a few months short. Too bad! I wanted to vote.
Who did Goldwater run against? Johnson?

Who did Goldwater run against? Johnson?Yep! My actual first vote was for Goldwater delegates against Rockefeller delegates for the 1964 GOP national convention (which I attended that summer in San Francisco!). The beginning of the modern conservative political movement.
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Ah. That's pretty neat! Politics are interesting, aren't they?
Or frustrating.... I think I lost more sleep over Florida 2000 than over most of my exams!

Looks like fun was had by all. Frodo is off to a great start. Your report has been posted!
To: HairOfTheDog
Your Flat Frodo series is absolutely hilarious!!! But I noticed you won't be coming Midgewater Marsh way...ie Houston Texas...does Midgewater Marsh have to travel to the highland of the Tx hill country to meet with Bear and HOTDog?
I'm going to blog this, if no one else has...TOO COOL, Hair!!

GRRRRRR!
To: HairOfTheDog
Perhaps Flat Frodo would like to come south in the November-January period, and visit Silver Springs (tourist mecca since the Civil War), near Ocala, and possibly Homasassa Springs and/or Weeki Watchee (Spring of Live Mermaids), nearby in Central and West Central Florida.
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
No? It was a landslide?
I don't know anything about that election except that, obviously, Johnson won...

Regarding Frodo, just put me on the schedule- the calendar is wide open. Oh and add a covered bridge to the list of MD locales. DC, Ft. McHenry, Amish country, Chesapeake Bay, and a covered bridge.
