Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

That might have been a different incident.
Yes, I mixed something up. Thanks for the link. Had my computer and television disconnected for cleaning all day, and didn't know what for sure was going on.
To: Lil'freeper
Hey! That is kind of dwarf like behavior.
To: Sam Cree
All in the name of checks and balances. ;)
To: Sam Cree
Oooh! It's snowing!
To: Overtaxed
Cool! Is it sticking?
Just looked at the radar, the squall line is not looking terribly ferocious and hasn't even gotten to Okeechobee yet, wonder if it'll even get here. OTOH, I see some chimneys building outside my door, to the north.
My neighbor is out dolphin fishing, so looks like the weather will cooperate 'til he's ready to come in at least.
To: Sam Cree
Nope....just looks pretty coming down.

Hey guys.... I'm pinging you guys in particular as more 'religious' Hobbit Holers. We got some sad news at church and I hope you'll pray about this.
The reformed (Calvinist) Baptists down the street just lost their pastor. He has had leukemia but he went into remission last fall and they thought he would be healed. Our pastor has been pulling double duty since October, preaching there for them and then coming and preaching for us, so we've kind of gotten to know their church pretty well. Their pastor died on Friday. He has a wife and a teenage daughter, not to mention the whole Baptist church is in shock.
If you could keep them in your prayers, particularly on Tuesday night when they have the service (our pastor was on study leave in Florida and that's as fast as he's able to get back), I know they would appreciate it.

Prayers, Jen.
One of my fishing buddies has leukemia, he's been in remission for some years now though, at the age of 75 he still operates an open boat, crossing the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas in it, and even sleeping on the deck when he goes to the Dry Tortugas.

Separation of powers, I guess.
To: Sam Cree
I guess sometimes it goes into remission and sometimes it doesn't. I don't really know anyone with leukemia, so I don't actually know much about it. But the Baptists need prayer. At least they know their pastor is home safe now.

Why did PJ have a carrot? Heh... Somewhere I'd read that he was suppposed to be smoking a pipe, but that since it was 'raining', he couldn't get it lit. Thus, the carrot.
To: 2Jedismom
I told him to take pictures of the soldiers looking at the items, if he could. What a great idea! It'll be fun see the soldiers with the stuff you sent for us!
To: JenB
Prayers going up for the Minister, Jen. That must be so upsetting for the congregation, even though they're confident of his acceptance into the Arms of God.
To: Overtaxed
Nope....just looks pretty coming down.It is drizzling and cold here today, and I read it is supposed to snow tomorrow. I doubt it will stay long on the ground, however, because it is steadily getting warmer every week!
To: SuziQ
Thanks! I hope he can do it. I've paid for it and everything, he just has to drop it in the mail. I paid .99 extra to have it on line, so I'll be able to post some of the pictures here, in the Hole.
He wrote me again this morning, thanking us for our prayers. He said the week has been really hard. He also said he got that last care package (one hadn't come in when I heard from him the other day...only 3 of them.)
The sunscreen went out last week. The 5 "entertainment" care packages will go out this week. The books should arrive soon and go out next week!
Then we start working on the fun stuff...and I'm really excited about sending snacks and junk food! That is going to be so much fun for me that I feel guilty! LOL Would that you all lived closer so we could shop together!
Wneighbor is sending Atomic Fireballs. Woohooo!

SC: only if you have a window cube; trouble is, sunny days, you wish you were outside. Guess its a mixed blessing, working in a semi-cube farm.
To: osagebowman
I love my window in my office, but on sunny days, man, it makes me feel trapped. Of course on rainy days I just get depressed...

2JM: sounds great, with Iraq on 24/7 its good that the Troops in Afganistan know we're still thinking about them.
OT: Atomic fireballs, way to go, I'll bet they will enjoy the change of pace.
To: Overtaxed
Nope....just looks pretty coming down. No it doesn't! I put down grass seed and planted azaleas yesterday...this is just WRONG!
To: JenB
Will pray Jen. For the family, the congregation and for your Pastor.
