The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I only have a vague memory of that ksen, do you suppose one of the stages could have an application here in America? But I'd like to see it if you find it.

I'm sure the stages apply to all of the countries, ours included.

If and when I find it I'll post 'em here and ping you.

I'm planning on buying some cards online and having them shipped to 2J.

Was thinking of doing the same here, but I feel like I need to investigate it more... I don't know if the rates work the same calling from Kuwait to the US.

I don't know if something like crystal light is doable

Crystal Light is packaged in little plastic sealed containers. It doesn't look like that in the store; it is in a cardboard tube. The little containers are stacked inside that tube with each one marked clearly.

Redneck Horse Shoes

ROTFL!! I'm about ready to blow up the toilets at our house, so that looks like a good use for the seats. I think the builder found the absolute CHEAPEST toilets he could find. You can plug the stupid things up by just flushing the amount of TP needed to blow your nose!!

Well...I'm planning on flying down, but hopefully I can stay in the same hotel as another Mooter and ride with them?

We'd be glad to give rides from the airport in Orlando to the hotel in Melbourne. We could arrange 'shuttle' transport for those coming in at different times from other places.

If she can make it to Massachussetts maybe she can travel with the Q's.

Well, we probably won't be driving. Our plan is to fly from either Bos. or Prov. to Orlando. WE'll rent a car there and drive to Melbourne.

How long is the bus ride from your place to Manchester? I'd be happy to pick you up at the bus station. I can find it using Map Quest.

I'll check to see if TTT is still playing anywhere in Manchester.

Yep, us females without marital partners need to make some share-a-room plans

An LoTR Slumber Party!! No doubt, a little more genteel version of Dwarf Moot.

it does feel almost spring-like right now.

It has been absolutely beautiful the last few days. The snow has completely melted from our yard; even back in the woods! Our neighbors on the west side of the street still have some in the shady places in their yards, but our front yard is actually looking green!

Took the baby a month early? That doctor should be flogged in front of the hospital. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for that. That's what ultrasounds are for!!

That being said, I'm thrilled the baby is doing as well as she is! She'll be added to our Prayer Line.

I'm tellin ya!

I'm pretty ticked off at the doctor as well, but I'm trying to let it go since it won't solve anything to be angry. Like 2J said, the baby is now safely in the hands of pediatric staff and out of the hands of Dr. Dumba$$.

My headache is killing me. I'm going home folks.

See you all later!

The treatment and repair of club feet is in some ways worse for the parents than it is for the child.

Our #1 son was born with 'metatarsus varus'(sp), which the doc described as a minor form of club foot. His foot was just turned in slightly. We had a cast put on just before we took him home(from Tallahasse where he was born, to MS) to 'meet the family' and for Baptism.

Of course my family had a field day with it! "What did you do, throw him down the stairs"? Ha Ha! But all the family signed the cast, and when the doc took it off after 4 weeks, we saved it. Still have it, in fact. After the first one came off, he had to wear a second cast for another 4 weeks, and after that, he was perfectly fine!

Definitely the sound of freedom!.

We were at the 4th of July celebration in Boston a couple of years ago, sitting on the roof of the Science Museum. We were looking west out over the Charles, when we heard the folks behind us start yelling and screaming. We turned around in time to see a B-2 flying low, right over us, going down the Charles. It was a wonderful sight!!!

There were speakers on the roof getting ready to broadcast the Pops concert from the Hatch shell, and after the B-2 flew past us, it went past the crowd there, and we could hear their screaming and yelling. After it flew past them, it turned North and flew between some buildings on its way out of town.

It truly was one of the most awesome things I've ever seen!!

I think you have to call some 800 number to find out the exact rates. The thread I was reading http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/855173/posts was about sending phone cards to the troops so I just assumed that the numbers were for a call from Kuwait to US.
