Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Morning- it is quite a lovely day here. Bummer I have to be in the office.

Regarding books for our troops, I will scratch LoTR off my list if others will supply it. Titles that I'll be sending 2Js way next payday include: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Ender's Game, Starship Troopers, and Last of the Breed. Am also considering sending "Dereliction of Duty" the new book on how the Clintons got us into this mess. With LoTR off the list, I'll need another title to take its place. Any ideas?

Also, on the radio this morning there was a retired General who currently works in VA hospitals; he had lots of suggestions for things to send to troops overseas. Plastic baggies of all sizes- including garbage bags- are very useful. Also things like Crystal Light, sunscreen, lip balm, and disposable cameras. I tried to send Kool-aid once to a friend who was living in Argentina for a time, but it was intercepted, sliced open, and returned with a curt little note about sending commercial items through the mail. ??? They clearly thought it was drugs and I have never tried that again, so I don't know if something like crystal light is doable. Anyhoo, my two cents.

The weather has been too nice to be cooped up at work all week! I think I've got a bad case of spring fever. The pine trees are starting to unload now (and kitty wants to go out at 2:00 in the morning...I need to get her a screened porch with a pet door!)

The campground is called The Pastures . Looks to be pretty far north, though...which is good for us, but probably means your friends wouldn't be up that way. Hopefully we get to play there, though!

Well...silly as it might sound, I don't think I can handle the traffic in Manchester. I drove there exactly once...to take my brother to a hotel so he could catch an early flight the next day. It was scary! I'm just not used to traffic at all. I suppose I MIGHT do it, with sufficient directions, or if someone would be willing to pick me up at the bus stop, but I'm a very bad driver when it comes to cities. Sad, I know...

Someone yesterday recommended we buy up more of the NYT bestsellers that are in the #3,#4, and #5 places so that we might put Michael Moore's 'Stupid white me' out of the #2 spot. And then there is the #1 spot held by Michael Savage.

In other Entmoot news, the Mrs. has become receptive to the idea if I turn it into a road trip with Jr. (which I wanted to do anyway). Jr. even thinks it's cool.

Of course, the story may change after dwarf-moot...
