The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

It is 70 at the moment, probably was in the 60's earlier, going up to low 80's this afternoon, 65 tonight. 'Til today, it has been shorts weather, though.

The little monster is like sleeping with a vibrating sander! Is she the kind of kitty that likes to curl up under your chin?

Morning all.
Hair's sleeping with a vibrating sander?
To: Overtaxed
She most certainly *is* a monster! I sweet monster who craves attention and loves life, but that just makes her an even more wicked monster!
She is a great little kitten. My friend who helped dig last night is the one who I helped by being there when his horse was put down last year. I offered to be the person there to tend him because he didn't want to see it. I know I have told that story before. Maybe that is where our friendship is now, he and I. We are the ones to attend the death of pets. That is a nice friend to have!
His wife said a friend of hers was looking for a kitten just this week and couldn't find one! - They only have a few kittens so far this season at the shelter, and no females, and she really wants a female! - I hope she wants this one! - I am afraid to take on another cat. I just can't control where they go, and I have lost so many to cars. This lady would be keeping her indoors. I just can't live that way... when the weather is nice I like the doors open wide.
I have to remember not to disclose that she is a monster!

Is she the kind of kitty that likes to curl up under your chin? She curls up under my chin and starts purring, and if I stop petting her (when sleep begins to take me) she kneads my face.

My sister had a kitten that curled up under the chin. It was nice when he was little, but as he grew he just about smothered me! Anyway, she gave that cat to a friend (who just adores him) because her "main cat", the calico, didn't like him. *Sigh*
Then a couple of years ago "Mr. Darcy", the stray, wandered into our lives. Since he's mostly an outdoor cat (he likes to be "in" only to eat and when it's cold) he gets along better with Emily.

Morning one and all!
Sam Cree is right. I walked out of my house this morning and actually managed not to break a sweat walking to my truck. AMAZING!! I hope it lasts.
And before anything else, I want to give a big cyber *HUG* to Hair.
Now, let's have some breakfast. I'm in a pretty good mood because I had a marvelous dream last night about our POWs being rescued by Special Ops and the surrender of Baghdad, along with images of Iraqis celebrating their freedom in the streets, kissing our soldiers and crying with joy. It was a fabulous dream!
Pancakes with maple syrup, 6 platters of bacon and sausage patties, home fries, scrambled eggs and a lovely basket filled with muffins, biscuits and doughnuts (all kinds). Coffee is brewed and juices are chilled. ENJOY!!

I'm here!! Just got up. We had storms in the night and it was a big uproar...the kids were all in an uproar over the storm and piled in bed with us...then Matthew wanted a drink of water and then he dropped the entire glass of water in the bed right smack dab on me. Oh, what a cold shock that was at 2am! Took us all a while to calm back down!
So we all just now got up.

Well, I am not sure my big cat is not beyond killing this little one. He seems mostly content to ignore her, but she keeps tickin' him off!

Well, I am not sure my big cat is not beyond killing this little one. The kitten (Django) kept wanting to play with the big cat (Emily) and the big cat didn't want to play.

I had a kitten that did that too (to me). Our vet at the time said that it's because the "throbbing" of the artery in our necks reminds them of their mother's heartbeat when they're curled up against mommy feeding as kittens -- which is why they "kneed" you sometimes when they're there -- kneeding is what they do to push more milk out.

My sister said that if she ever got a male cat she would name him "Mr. Darcy." Only Mr. Darcy doesn't really act like his namesake. He's a little con kitty, that's for sure. Last summer the neighbors were asking about him wanting to know if he belonged to someone. They were ready to adopt him if he didn't.

Last summer the neighbors were asking about him wanting to know if he belonged to someone. They were ready to adopt him if he didn't. Was he two-timing for extra food and attention? As I recall, we had one cat that did that...he used to visit another family a mile or so away for a day or so, then come back to us. Stinker! ;-)
I like "Django" as a name, too. I know a guy (a jazz guitarist, actually) who has a Kelpie (Australian Shepherd) named Django.
