The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

If the phrase "John has a long moustache" suddenly appears in the keywords, duck.

My son and I have played it too. Mostly I just watched, and he played. It is great. I finally got to talk to him about the Age of Empires. He says we have the first one with the expansion. But we need to do a download update of some kind. Are you guys still playing? Anybody playing tomorrow afternoon?

I think ksen and I were going to try to play tomorrow night, at 9 pm central time. The site he suggested for hosting the game will check your version and automatically download an update if you need it.
I can't remember the location of the site, though!

Thanks for the encouraging words, guys!
I got my debit card for the "contributor account" today...that will make life a lot easier on me. I can pay for the items and pay for the shipping without having to make a cash withdrawal.
Twist my arm to shop! I haven't been practicing all my life at bargain hunting for nothing! LOL
I wonder if the troops would wear red high top Chucks...nawwwww....

I lifted this from another thread on FR, and it was too good to not pass around here.
> > And he is finding out that when Allah was talking about 72 virgins, he meant goats.
I think that there was a serious miscommunication here.
Saddam made his way to the Pearly Gates. There, he is greeted by George Washington. "How dare you attack the nation I helped conceive!" yells Mr. Washington, slapping Saddam in the face.
Patrick Henry comes up from behind. "You wanted to end the Americans' liberty, so they gave you death!" Henry punches Saddam on the nose.
James Madison comes up next, and says, "This is why I allowed the Federal government to provide for the common defense!" He drops a large weight on Saddam's knee. Saddam is subject to similar beatings from John Randolph of Roanoke, James Monroe, and 65 other people who have the same love for liberty and America.
As he writhes on the ground, Robert E. Lee picks him up to hurl him back toward the gate where he is to be judged. As Saddam awaits his journey to his final very hot destination, he screams,, "This is not what I was promised!"
An angel replies, "I told you there would be 72 Virginians waiting for you. What did you think I said?"

Staff Sgt. Waters-Bey was one of four U.S. Marines killed God Bless that little boy and the rest of his family, and God Rest his father's soul.

An angel replies, "I told you there would be 72 Virginians waiting for you. What did you think I said?"I love that one!!

Some of the rest of his family said some angry things (to the microphone that never should have been put there) today in their grief, and some pretty harsh things have been said about them here. I think those people are beginning to see from their own quick tongues that grieved anger does in fact cause us to say things we maybe shouldn't.
I also hope the family finds peace.
There are threads here.... let me know if you want to see them.

Yeah. It is another very human moment. That one has an inadvertant *forced perspective* problem. He is not really pointing that rifle at the guy's head.

Perhaps he's not, but I wouldn't blame him if he was...really, this is war and we need to follow the rules. Follow the rules and no one gets hurt (hopefully).
He's doing good. They all are. If I were younger and with no kids, I'd sign up.

No he is not pointing a rifle point blank at a guy's head. That would not be safe, but rather risk a bad incident.

My Dad actually told me I was too 'opinionated' or 'obstinate' or something. Stubborn maybe? - I don't remember. He didn't think I could take orders without an attitude and I would be cleaning the bathrooms with a toothbrush all the time! (he was a drill sargent for a time) I believed him.
Funny, because some of the most opinionated and obstinate people I have ever met are successful military and former military people here! - I could have done just fine if they did!
