The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Are you really going to inflict Moorcock on the poor soldiers? Most of LeGuin is crap, too. Send them Starship Troopers and Ender's Game. A Hymn Before Battle. Kipling's battle poetry. Jerry Pournelle. Dune. But don't send them liberal SF.

I may have to inflict him on a used book store, instead.

Now, there's an intelligent idea. You can buy them some good used SF instead.

I got the labels!! They look great, Bear and will fit right in the inside of the paperbacks perfectly!

Good, I'm glad they arrived safely, and that you like them! If/when you need more, just let me know and I'll get more on the way to you.

I think it is more of a problem when people like me take 150% of the recommended dosage

Hey! I represent that remark! But I did it on my doctor's orders. Then, when I developed heart palpitations after 3 weeks, he didn't think there could POSSIBLY be any connection! What a putz!

Florida isn't the same thing culturally is it?

The Panhandle is more like Southern Georgia, but anything below Orlando isn't what I would consider 'Southern culture'. Nowadays it is more influenced by the Yankee retirees. The area down by Miami has always been influenced by Spanish culture, so it wouldn't really have a Southern culture either. To really experience that you need to go to MS, AL, GA or TN. Even VA has gotten less 'Southern' these days. I think Corin and Sam would agree. It is much more cosmopolitan; particularly in the area from Richmond up to DC.

But the instructions would just be to go to paypal and set up an account to use a transfer from your checking account instead of a visa.

Whoops! I didn't know that before I sent mine. I always use my credit card when doing PayPal. I don't want to send them my bank account info! Hope I didn't mess things up for 2J!

Oh and if it does come through as a credit card...it won't let me accept it until I upgrade...and only after I upgrade and accept it, that's when it charges...it takes a percentage of what you send.

So I'll just decline it and no one will be worse for the experience!
