The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Wow, good for you! Keep up the good work!
We won't talk about how much I've gained back over the last couple of months. :(

Good Afternoon. I'm still not here....been up cleaning off the roof. Then it's raking, priming, painting, and planting.....hopefully.
To: Penny1; Overtaxed
Thanks, Penny! I'll keep it up, never fear.... I want to get a lot more off...
Just went for a little walk. It's such a pretty day, sunny and at least 50. My feet are a little sore, though.
Are you here yet, OT?

Back from the dog show! My friend has her first dog show behind her! - She showed well, she and dog were both a little nervous, Placed third in her class.
Here is the pretty dog in the ring, and then a portrait we took afterwards.

Hi OT! Got all your outside chores done?
It is still pretty chilly here. We got another 4 inches of snow on Thursday, and we're supposed to get more next week. I saw a friend today, and he said that our town has gotten 93" of total snow this year. I believe that MUST be a record!
Clare and I went to a local grocery store to sit out in their 'airlock' to sell Girl Scout Cookies with others in her Troop. I didn't dress too warmly because last year it got so HOT in there with the sun shining through the glass enclosure. But YOU JUST NEVER KNOW! BOTH of the outside doors were broken and we were right in the cross breeze. I felt like a popsicle when we had done our two hours. And I ended up with an earache and a sore throat! That car felt SO warm when we got back inside it because it had been sitting in the sun for all that time. It took a while for my fingers to thaw! But we sold a LOT of cookies, so we were successful!
Sir SuziQ it taking me out for Mexican food tonight, and it's gonna be GOOD!

Good work Jen!! Keep it up!

Are you around? - If I emailed you two photos that came out too dark, can photoshop lighten them? - I don't have photoshop, just paint.

Oh what a pretty doggie!! Was your friend pleased with her Third place finish?
To: SuziQ
I got most of them done: Debris off the roof, gutters cleaned, wood primed....think I'll paint them tomorrow....and more leaves raked. It was in the 60's today and I opened the windows and aired out the house. Hope I'll get some planting done after the painting. And I'm ready to grill out tomorrow!
To: JenB
You've inspired me--I went out for a run...in the rain...with a cold, even!
And I bought a couple of little free weights. I'm sick of these flabby arms, lol.
To: HairOfTheDog
A lovely dog! Congratulations to your friend.
Did you know that "Bosun" the Portuguese Water Spaniel from Olympia that won best of breed at Westminister this year is showing this weekend in Centralia?
To: HairOfTheDog
What a pretty dog! Good for her placing third in her first time out!
To: SuziQ
Yeah, she was. It was her first show, so she was really nervous, she hasn't had the dog very long and it is a little hard for her to get his attention and get him 'up' and showing well. But she now knows twice as much about it as she did before! She has another show in a couple weeks.
The dog is a couple years old, and was sold by the kennel really intended to be a pet because he doesn't particularly love the ring. He's catatonic in there, not bouncy. But for my friend, he is her 'learning dog'. Right now she thinks this is a fun new hobby, and if she stays in it, I fully expect her to buy yet another dog that is a good show prospect and then really spiral down into bankruptcy!

He is showing tomorrow at 9:15 in ring ten. I have met Bosun -- on our waterfront walks with our dogs. He is an absolute sweetheart. He lives on one of the boats moored at West Bay. A wonderful dog.
To: Scott from the Left Coast
So are you going there to watch him?

Yes, we very much wanted to see him locally...after watching him on the telly last month.
