Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

The scandal if anyone found out the dwarves who have been secretly buying elf ears and wearing them when they think no one will see.
I saw a thread that you were on and a funny expression our dwarves could use... Old Arab insult: "I fart in your beard" ;~D

Who is buying all these elf-ears?I don't have any either, nor do I know anyone who does... hmm, they can also function as hobbit ears! I like a multi-use product...
By the way, their "Community" bulletin board has 531 posts, so the FR Hobbit Hole has TolkienTown beat in that regard.
With that happy thought, I'm off to bed... good night all!

Good night bear!

I finally lost it with LeClair10 -- who was bating me as a Buchananite or a D.U. lackey. You can check my last response to him on my messages. Unbelievable!

Oh no... not more accusations of being a DUer. HA! - Lord help us we do eat our own. After disowning them and renaming them 'prey', of course.

And all this because there is a fear that we are walking into a mine field without friends, or with friends that may run away as soon as things start going boom around them.
It might be all cold feet. Really, I talked to two friends today who are not news hounds, but 'normal people'. They both asked me "So when are we gonna start this war, what is 'your president' waiting for? (They are liberals by parentage, but they support the war.) They won't have the attention-span for the details. They are sold on an idea. Are they really going to pick apart the success until it doesn't feel like success any more? - No, they won't. That will all be done in that "cultural elite" sect Winmag was talking about. The news hounds, here, and at DU.

Why does all this remind me, strangely, of LotR???
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Heh. Because LoTR is human nature ;~D

I am a little stunned that so much of the world is ready to either tolerate or champion it, What stuns me, Sam, is the number of American women who willingly allow themselves, and eventually their children to be taken in to that society! Most of these seem to be fairly educated women; we're not talkin backwoods chicks here, so what the hell are they thinking? When I see an obviously Western woman in Muslim garb, I just have to shake my head, because she has given away her liberty as a human being.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find many quality audio clips from itDelmar: "Oh son, you sold your everlasting soul?"
Tommy: "Well I wasn't using it!"

I LOVE that movie! Who woulda thought George Clooney could do anything decent?
To: HairOfTheDog
but it would give priests a bit of experience with real life and real family... Things they are isolated from by their chastity. Priests may not have experienced a lot of those things personally, but they've certainly heard of and helped people through those things. Most priests have heard of a lot more troubles than any of us probably ever will! Some can help, some can't, but if they can't they'll know of someone who can, so that the person can get the help they need.

I believe Ted Nugent took the kid out west on a hunting trip instead.Good for Ted. Weenies just p*ss me off SO bad!

But that's also why I'd get a kick out of contributing to a right wing cause in the name of some of my co-workers.Heh, Heh. Must get their knickers in a twist! This past Christmas my family got me a llama! They bought it through Heifer International, which I like. The llama was sent to a poor family in a town probably in Ecuador or Peru as a pack animal, and to be able to take it's fur and make fiber out of it to make sweaters, etc.
Heifer uses these way out liberals all through their literature, but it's hilarious because what the group does is so different from what the libs usually espouse. Each family that receives an animal, allows it to be bred, and when a baby animal is born, that animal has to be donated to another family. That way another family can get a leg up. I bought a goat in my Mama's name, and our daughter bought a trio of rabbits in the name of three of her friends. It seems like a great program.

... that the left does get more mileage in pushing their agenda because their position is better in those organizations... They give their TIME, NOT their money! I would guess that your $100 donation to that fundraiser you mentioned was as large or larger than many others in the room. We conservatives don't usually go around crowing about our donations; we just give them!

With expectations like that among so many who think it didn't need to be fought in the first place, how can he come out a winner?Americans can be a fickle people; hell they elected x42 TWICE! But I think Dubya's generated a lot of good will among most Americans and they'll try their best to continue to support him, knowing that he can't always make things come out the way he or they would like.

I still am amazed at the con-trails that the planes make...and remember the days after 9/11 when there weren't any.that's funny, because I think the same thing sometimes when I see jet-trails in the sky. It was so eeire that week after 9/11 not seeing any! Felt like a parallel universe!
To: SuziQ
Eveining SuziQ! Makin' your way through all the heady posts of the day?
They give their TIME, NOT their money!
Good point, but perhaps that is why their agenda has more impact.

Eveining SuziQ! Makin' your way through all the heady posts of the day? Yep. And I must thank you and Scott kindly for keeping me from funkling!!
This is the first chance I have had to sit down at the computer this evening. We watched parts 9 & 10 of "Band of Brothers". This was Disc 5; we were supposed to have gotten Disc 4! But we'll get it next from Netflix, though now we know who made it through the war and who didn't. It is a great series!
I didn't mind your contemplative mood today, Hair, you had some good things to say! Now I'm gonna go check out a couuple of other threads, then hit the sack!
G'nite!
