The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Yeah, I'm a terrible mother, giving coffee to my 4 year old. At least I'm not as bad as Ruthy...

Heh. Heh! My Daddy started me on coffee-milk when I was about Joshua's age. Anyone who was up when he was having his coffee got some.

I remember when I was in Paris...I ordered a cup of espresso...and tried to get a cup of milk to dilute it with...

YUMMM! Cafe au Lait!! Nothing better than a cup of that while eating a beignet, sitting on the levee in New Orleans!!

There's plates of crispy bacon, large juicy sausages, fried potatoes with ham and stacks of pancakes with warm maple syrup. And don't miss the pork chops, steaks and fried eggs on the side table!

Yowsers!! A heart attack on a plate! I like it!!

You serve Coke with peanuts (placed directly in the bottle...)

I beg to disagree, sir. You do THAT with a Barq's root beer!!

RC Cola is the proper vintage to serve with moonpies. You serve Coke with peanuts (placed directly in the bottle...)

But the vending machines don't have RC Cola and they don't have Coke in bottles so you can't watch the peanuts!

OK, I'm back for a second.

Dawntreader - Thanks for taking care of the meals for me! I'm really grateful and don't worry, your cooking skills are great!

Hair - Poor ol' Zulu! Nevertheless, she's so lucky to have a mommy like you. Hang in there, you'll know when it's time and you will do what you have to for her sake. (((Hair))) On a lighter note, I would pay cash to have a pic of you wearing that cat on your head! :)

2J - HA! My mom has you beat! She was giving us cafe con leche (espresso, baby!) at 4 years of age in a bottle to get us going in the mornings! Where do you think I get my rotten mommy skills from! *grinning*

ksen - don't worry about your failed Elf-bash! I knew what you meant to say was: "Elrond is who Chirac wants to be when he grows up (or at least grows a pair)! :)

All - It's a nice, slightly cloudy day here in Florida in the 70s. Nice breezes, no ice or snow, etc. I love this time of year, don't you! *wicked smile*

'bout once every 20-25 years I'll get a hankerin' for A&W root beer in a frosty glass...

I'm holdin' out for another three years to see if it'll pass...

What kind of backwater place do you live in?

Actually, I'm not sure where you'd go around here to get RC cola. I usually just skip the moonpies. And you're right, the Coke has to be in a glass bottle to have it with peanuts.

Well then, the best thing you can have is a piece of property with BOTH! You build your house on the high ground, then you can wander down to the river whenever you've a mind to!

Ideally, I'd love to have some property on a BIG lake. I'd build the house a couple of hundred feet from the water's edge, but where I can see it from the back of the house. I'd have a little boat house down by the water for a couple of kayaks, then I'd put in a swimming pool and tennis court and have my own little resort, right at home!

Cheese crackers with peanut butter? Can't see well enough to tell...

If so, I don't like nabs...give me plain ol' crackers and peanut butter any day!

I DO like the peanuts in coke thing...had someone show me that for the first time when I was at tech school in MS. That and boiled peanuts.

Mmmm I haven't had Coke in a glass bottle for a while. Those definitely are the best.

Yay..they had salted peanuts now so I'm now enjoying Coke (in a plastic bottle) with peanuts. Yummmmm
