The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

No dear, I can't ride on it!

I let the horses mow it, but they don't do an even job.... they eat right around the dandelions. (did you know that dandelions were brought here by the French?) The mower will just help me make it all neat and even.

I am kinda looking forward to going out and using it a bit today. When it warms up.... it is only 35 degrees outside. The sun hasn't come up over the trees yet.

Should have known the French would be responsible for dandelions: they're yellow, annoying, and keep popping up when you think you've settled them...

Am I a bad person?

No, just a master recycler.

2JM: So far so good here; two different weather forecasts, one says we will likely miss it, the other says 3-4 inches with two more on the way, so 12 inches for the week. I would appreciate dodging it again although Lord knows, we could use the moisture.
Hair: I would call it "liberating it"; have you priced a push reel more lately, they are expensive, they do cut nicely if the blades are sharp.

Overtaxed: glad you dodged the bullet yesterday, sounded like the weather was "interesting".

Had a good morning in the basement with the bamboo backed osage bow, tillering done and sanding (with a palm sander) has it looking pretty good. 68 inches nock to nock, yes, I like the long bow style. Bamboo backed hickory long bow the next projet, or should I work on the quiver, ah, decisions, decisions. BBL

I am so glad you will not stone me for salvaging, liberating and recycling the lawnmower!

Still looking forward to using it but I am doing inside chores first. Still only 38 degrees.

Woo Hoo! We just got Digital Cable last week so we get BBC America! I'll have to tape it for Clare; she's going over to some friends' house this afternoon. We're fixing to have Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese Sandwiches for lunch. Her choice for her birthday meal; she's 15 today!

but there was one moment shot in slo-mo that captured Aragorn galloping uphill atop his stately steed, hair streaming across his face as he looked over his shoulder at the enemy closing in. Breathtaking.

Does this person mean that shot when Aragorn looks back at Eowyn when he's riding out to the Warg attack? That is a GREAT shot!

I think we should crash the Ladies' Guild... they're sure to cover the Grammys, right?

Always!! We have WAY too much fun dissing the folks for their outrageous clothes and even more outrageous political statements!

It's a snowy day. Not very cold, though, so it's a mushy snow. But it's been snowing off and on all day.

Suzi: So is Clare going to get a screenname for her birthday? :)

She has one, and she told me, but I can't remember it! It is in Japanese, and I don't know from Japanese. She's teaching herself by watching Anime, reading Manga, and with a set of workbooks I bought her. I'll have to have her post something tonight! She registered a couple of weeks ago, but hasn't posted yet.
