The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Actually, from what I've heard, it's fairly sympathetic to the South.

I am planning on seeing that movie, too, if it seems to be any good. Am just finishing up Jeff Shaara's book, on which it is based. Book is "not bad."
I think Ted Turner, though a socialist and an idiot, may take pride in his Southern heritage (if I am right that he is a Southerner), so I'd expect the Virginians to be portrayed sympathetically.
G'nad, that is a pretty cool rub outside your window, looks like it was made by a fair sized buck, tho I am not exactly an expert on that. I wish I had another day here in VA, just so I could follow all these tracks around in the snow. Most of them lead into a pine planting, about 10 years old, but it is too thick to hunt in there, maybe the edges of it might be good though, will have to give some attention to it if I get a chance.

I'd stay away from a Mac unless and until he absolutely has to use one. He doesn't have to have one. But the Chairman of the communications dept at our college (where we hope he'll go) recommended for film editing that the Mac was better. But for compatability, I think we'll stick with the PC.

Is Tami OK, Kevin?

Here's the link, but I got my books at Sam's Club for cheap...$7!
There are three pages, just click down at the bottom, which page you want.
Good morning everyone! Well, so much for getting up and seeing Steve off in the morning! I don't have any idea when he left! I was sleeping too sound.

The round Moon rolled behind the hill
as the Sun raised up her head.
She hardly believed her fiery eyes;
For though it was day, to her surprise
they all went back to bed!

Do they have a life-sized Eomer? If not, I'll "settle" for Legolas :-D (Where did you get that again btw?)

" You hear about them but I never really understood until I attended an Austin freep how many "touched" people are loose on the streets."That's putting it lightly. I don't know if you guys talked about this already as I am catching up, but I was listening to Rush yesterday and he talked about brain-terminal.com and how this guy pretended to be protesting the war and went in with a video camera and interviewed people. It is FUNNY stuff.

Good morning. Drinking coffee and gearing up to start school here in about half an hour.
After I got off line last night, I got the house very nearly completely spiffed up...if I can keep it that way today, Steve will come home to a nice comfortable home.
Today is laundry day. I hate to fold clothes, so I wash them all day on Friday and then Steve folds them when he gets in.

Wow DT. You are way upthread! You have a lot of catching up to do indeed! I see a funkle in your future.

Fantastic creation, ecurbh!

I may borrow it for some other threads....
All: I just got FRmail from Dawntreader....she is fine and will be checking in later....
ksen: How is Tami? It sounds like Gods and Generals is a real anomaly for Ted Turner...check this thread out...Michael Medved's open letter to Ted Turner or this one....Joseph Farah recommends Gods and Generals. I read in today's paper that the movie is 3 hours and 40 minutes long!!! Why can't PJ do that for ROTK? Bring a strong bladder! Me and Will are going to see it pretty soon... He's studying the Civil War in history right now, so it should be cause for "teachable moments".
Corin: Toshiba was tops in a recent Consumer Reports test, but I've been happy with my Dell. I got an Inspiron 2560 with a DVD player, CD burner for about $1,200... Laptops rock!

You guys catchin' the news about the fire on/near Staten Island?
To: 2Jedismom; Overtaxed; Corin Stormhands; HairOfTheDog; Dawntreader; RMDupree; All
Good morning all. I'm late getting here because I bit the bullet and applied for admissions into college this morning. Hope there's no big rocks under this water I'm just diving into.

I got an Inspiron 2560 with a DVD player, CD burner for about $1,200... Okay, that's what I need. I forgot to mention above he "want's" the DVD player, and it makes sense to get it.
That covers: disk drive, CD-Rom, CD burner and DVD player...right?
I R pretty ignorant about this stuff...
To: Corin Stormhands
Yeah - watching it. Enormous, very dirty fire. A huge inferno that will not be easy to stop.
