Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

You said you saw "Daredevil", right? Does Affleck kill the movie?Yes, Rose and I saw it yesterday. We enjoyed it! Affleck did an ok job as far as we're concernced, didn't kill the movie at all. The special effects were interesting, the fight scenes were well-coreagraphed, and there actually was a story behind all of the action. I'm not sure how much someone unfamiliar with the comic-book will get out of it, but we liked it!
Oh, we also saw a killer preview for X-Men 2 before the movie started. Can't wait to see that one!

I didn't realize that one a day would do that! Maybe I will go back to the enteric coated ones. I'll take two of the 81mg tabs a day. I finally annoyed my doc to the point where he agreed I could go off the Warfarin if I took the aspirin. My doctor says no adult needs more than a single 81mg aspirin a day to get all the benefits. Coated is best, of course.

Well...what did you expect? :) It's coming down pretty hard. Right now my office is opening 2 hours late. But if this keeps up, I ain't goin' anywhere.

There was a couple of inches of sleet on the car. I didn't even make dents in the ice on the driveway this afternoon. I wasn't watching the road in front of the house all day but I only saw one pickup truck pass my house and it wasn't denting the ice either.

What? Two hours late in the morning? That's sure nice of them!
Steve is at a cub scouts meeting. Boys are home with me. Joshua has been on the potty for a while, his antibiotics tear up his bowels...poor kid! Now he's sitting in a nice warm tub. Matthew is playing "Galactic Empire" behind me.

I told HIM I would take the 81mg aspirin each day because I wanted to be taken off the Warfarin. He said that was ok. Like I said, I think I annoyed him to the point where he just wanted to wash his hands of me. The cardiologist had told me that HE didn't think I needed to be on the Warfarin because there was no underlying heart disease. I was concerned about having any more heart palps and NOT being on something, either the Warfarin or the aspirin, because my regular doctor had scared the crap out of me when he started talking about strokes, etc, because the heart palps would cause the heart not to dump properly and the blood pooling could cause a stroke!
Warfarin has its own set of side effects, and I don't like having to take prescription meds if I don't have to. As it is, he's keeping me on the Digoxin and I've had the palps 3 times since I started on the stuff, all three during 'hormonal' times as we've discussed in the past.

Great pic 2J!Thank you! Got a pretty smug look on my face, don't I? I was showing off for my MIL. She was visiting and I had that baby at 5am, and by the time she got to the hospital with Matthew at noon, I was sitting up, fully dressed, like nothing had ever happened to me! LOL My mother came in and my MIL said "If I didn't know any better, I wouldn't believe she'd even had a baby!"

Yes, that's right...it can cause a stroke. The pooling or sluggish flow that occurs when the beat isn't efficient causes clots to form...then one breaks loose and well, that's not a good thing. Can cause a stroke or a pulmonary embolism. Yikes!
I had a patient throw an embolism one time while I was assessing her...taking her blood pressure. She looked at me and said "I can't breathe" and her eyes rolled back. At about that moment, I lost her blood pressure...her heart stopped. We had "Code Blue" buttons on the wall, you pushed and docs and ER personnel would come running with the crash cart. I hit that button so hard that the wall shook. Just a few doors down there was a doctor...a cardiologist, and he heard me shouting (you aren't supposed to shout but foo-ey on that) and he dashed in and he started compressions. I did the ambu-bag until ER guys got there, then they took over.
The lady survived, amazingly!
But yeah, I take my little ASA without fail.

But yeah, I take my little ASA without fail. What is an ASA? And would the 81mg. aspirin each day suffice if I only have these heart palps about every 3 months or so? The previous episode, as well as this last one only lasted about 36 hrs. My heart rate back to normal now.

I would think 81mg would be enough...ASA is "nurse talk" for aspirin.
Ask the nurse at the doctor's office. Just tell her that you are unsure of the daily aspirin dosage you are supposed to take. I am willing to bet it's 81mg...that's the standard.

We got four inches of the ice. When I went out to clean off the cars, I barely left footprints.

That is a nice picture of you and Matthew with the beautiful new baby. The day your kids are born are some of the most exciting in life. I will never forget when ours were born, and they were that little and beautiful.
With my daughter, I had been telling Jeanne that the new baby was really going to be a puppy. Her first words when Alex was born were "See, it's not a Jack Russell!" Tho, she no longer remembers saying that. I remember.
But I think it was worse when my Mom was pregnant with my twin brother and me. One day she came home all excited from seeing the OB guy, telling Dad that they were having twins. My uncle, who was standing there, politely asks "Are you sure it's not just one with two heads?"
To: 2Jedismom
They're really not that nice. It's a safety thing. The roads are still pretty bad.
Poor Josh. Don't you hate it when the little ones are sick? Our little one is running a fever and not eating.

Evening all. I slept in until 8 because of the snow today. My school was the only one in the whole state, I think, that didn't cancel classes. I'm exhausted and finals aren't over yet...
