The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Maybe one of the cows probably rang the doorbell. I saw one doing that once in a Far Side cartoon.

MIB's...Men In Black? It's a good thing she didn't open the door then. They would have used the flashy thingie on her and we'd never hear from her again.
Okay, I've put it off long enough. I'm going to go thaw out the cars.

Yeah, I didn't bring my longjohns. I have to admit to being slightly shocked by the intensity of the winter here.
My 20 year old daughter is a small lady, and no more than 120 lbs., probably less, yet she is completely unfazed by it. I now understand why she thought it was so mild in Virginia in December when we were there a few days and it was only getting down to about 23 at night.
To: Sam Cree; Overtaxed
Well, I just got both cars cleaned off. So, of course, it's sleeting again.
To: HairOfTheDog
So, sorry to give you a hard time.
Oh, that's ok! I kinda got a kick out of all the jokes. And I do play my "fear" of Authorities for all it's worth...I'm really not that worried about them. Just a very healthy respect.

I don't have a problem with aspirin, never have. That's good! But aspirin is extremely acidic (it's real name of course is salicylic acid) and with long term use and combined with the acid in your stomach, can cause gastric bleeding and eat a hole right through your stomach...even just one a day. Coated ones disolve more slowly and in your intestines, so that your stomach doesn't get a double whammy of acid.
But of course, do what your doc advises...

I didn't realize that one a day would do that! Maybe I will go back to the enteric coated ones. I'll take two of the 81mg tabs a day. I finally annoyed my doc to the point where he agreed I could go off the Warfarin if I took the aspirin.

To: SuziQ
It's ok to take the 81mg enteric coated...but were you told to take a "regular strength" aspirin? If so, you will need to take "four" (4) 81mg "baby aspirins" to equal one 325mg regular adult aspirin.
I hope I don't sound too bossy!! I love doing patient teaching as a nurse and can't hardly stop myself! LOL

Well, it has been snowing here since the middle of the day. At least it's warmer today, got up to 18.
A socialist made the mistake of approaching me in the mall, where I was getting some warm socks :-) that I do not have enough of. They sell lots of them here.
He wanted a donation for some "workers" organization that was going to fight evil corporate America on behalf of the farm "workers." Man, that got to me, so I just told him to "shove it."
Then, halfway out of the mall, I thought a freeper should do better than that, so I went back, apologized, shook his hand, and treated him to a little friendly discourse on some of the evils of socialism as they affect the "worker," point by point. The guy did not answer a single one of my arguments, even agreeing with some. I hope I could have planted a seed in his mind, but who knows. But I bet it's the first time in awhile that he has had to think about something other than what his left wing buddies tell him.
I did go so far as to agree with the guy that corporations make me mad too, tho I specified that that was when they donate to leftist causes :-)
To: HairOfTheDog
Hey, he may have some sort of plan that I'm unaware of...like the length of time she's on it might not be consequential...he might not plan to have her on it long enough to do any harm!!
Quit laughing at me!
;-)

I wrote this poem for Matthew when he was a baby...found it on the old computer I'm clearing off. I'd forgotten about it...
Little Tiny Handprints
Little tiny hand prints on my fridger-fridger door,
I don't want to wipe them off, but they're too hard to ignore.
I know there'll come a day they won't be there anymore...
Little tiny hand prints on my fridger-fridger door.

And here is a picture that I found on the old computer...taken just a few hours after Joshua was born...he was born at 5am and this must have been around noon.
