Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Those are darling kids. All 3 of my grandbabies (and both my own babies) are girls. I need a grandson. Been talking to my son-in-law about that for 4 years now, ever since the 2nd grand-daughter's birth. Still waiting.
To: RosieCotton
Sigh...easier said than done... TELL ME! got tired of looking. settled down to grandchildren, dogs and plants. But, yes, I did have a little shot at it... they must not have been good men of Gondor though .. they both left when the going got tough.

Happens every day about this time. It's me.. and me.. all alone. This must be what time my deoderant wears off. I'm going to lunch now. I'll freshen it.

The Return of the King, coming Dec 17, may surpass $US1 billion ($A1.7 billion). What's next for Jackson? He says he has six or seven ideas for movies, "all of them small." But he denies rumours that he has refused to direct The Hobbit, the first Tolkien Middle-earth book, which served as a prologue to The Lord of the Rings.
"Part of me would love to have somebody else make The Hobbit, so I could watch it as an audience member," Jackson says. "On the other hand, it would feel odd.
"Nobody has asked me to do it, but if they did, I would give it serious consideration."

I just finished Guns of Avalon and am getting ready to start Sign of the Unicorn tonight.Ahh, just when Corwin thought he had everything under control he realizes he doesn't know what the heck is going on.
I started re-reading Nine Princes in Amber Saturday night, made it about 2/3 of the way through... I felt like I needed something comfortable to take my mind of off the events of the day.

but as the Corps taught me from day 1, "Nuthin' in this world is freeI thought about you last night when I was watching R. Lee Emrey's show "Mail Call" on the History Channel. That show is so imformative and the guy is a hoot! Anyway, he was at Ft. Irwin in CA, where the big war games are played (we're reading about it right now in "Executive Orders"). They showed a group of the OpFor soldiers in their Desert Camos and boonie (is that right?) hats, and I thought of your picture that we've seen on FR.

Hi all! Looks as if I missed great companionship here over the weekend. All I can add to it all is May God rest their dear brave souls.
I remember the Space Shuttle Challenger...and how PISSED OFF I got at my fellow dorm girls. I was a freshman in college in 1986. While I tried to follow what was happening and letting it sink in, sitting in the main room of the dorm, these fat cow wanker-girls were whining and bitching that they were missing their soap operas. Their attitudes were despicable and they kept trying to get the girls at the desk to change the channel back to their soaps, but fortunately the girls in control of the TV weren't going for it. They too understood.
Those fat cows have probably had their butts saved innumerable times by the technology and medicine that has come out of the Space Program.
I am looking for a link to a fellow FReeper (I think) who has her own webpage for setting up penpals with our men and women in uniform. Can anyone direct me to that link? I had it saved at one time, but hubby got to fiddling with the settings on the puter, and I dont know what he did with my favorite links.
Best regards, Alkhin at Brazos de Dios Cantina

I would like to ask for ya'll to pray for my son-in-law if and when you are moved to do soPrayers going up for him, Wneighbor. I'll send a note to kayak so she can add him to the list of those on active duty being prayed for on the Dose and FR's Finest threads. G'nad's included on the FR's Finest list, by the way!

When I was little I wanted to be an astronaut.Me too... 'course, when I was little they were still landing on the Moon. I remember one summer setting up my telescope to look at the Moon during the Apollo 17 mission, and asking my Dad if we would be able to see the astronauts. :) I was about 8 at the time.
When I was a little older I had a paper route. I used to come home from school and go out to deliver papers; during the winter months in Upper Michigan it would be dark about 5:00 pm. On cold nights the stars would just be huge... I'd walk my whole route with my head tilted back just staring up at them. Living in Texas, in a city, I miss that kind of view.

I am assuming the addition of the preview means -- in theaters.)Last year, Fellowship was gone from the large theaters before we saw the TTT preview that was added. We had gone in early March to the big theater, but the preview didn't play. In late March, the movie had moved to the cheap theater, and we were able to see the preview then. We hope to catch it at the nicer theater this year!
