The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Did you read about the TTT attaching a ROTK preview at the end of the movie, in March. I was thinking that would be a great time/reason/excuse to have an Austin minimoot. (I am assuming the addition of the preview means -- in theaters.)

Woohooo!!! I can't wait for that trailer! I wish I knew the exact date it will be in theaters. Some time in March I think? Too far away!

"The pictures really are amazing. "

What were the pictures of? Do you still have them? Can you post a couple? Or maybe you did and I just haven't gotten to it yet!

I was referring to how the shuttle looked as it fell, the video...it looked like stars falling from the sky and made me think of the Earendil and the Silmaril.

I think that's an excellent idea!

And my birthday is in March. I celebrate for the whole month. Will have to locate mathoms to bring for each or you. It would make a lovely birthday party.

No one had...the secret was maintained.

But now I can't come up with anything appropriate for my trick "E" to stand for...

It didn't look like that when you could see smoke and fire with a parking lot full of high school students, most of whom couldn't get their minds around knowing 7 people were up there in that.. dead or dying.

"Even if I knew that I wouldn't make it back to Earth, I might still go, just to see that sight, and feel weightlessness."

I would give just about anything to see that sight. When I was little I wanted to be an astronaut. Heck, I still do. I want to be up there so bad.

I really miss living in the country. I used to go out at night with my brother and we'd lie in lawn chairs, looking up at the sky. I loved it because if I looked long enough, I would only see just the stars and would feel as if I were floating up into that vast space.

Dang...I'm feeling all nostalgic now.

Dang, I'm old....

Cheer up though, you're not as old as me..... Challenger happened the year I got married. I remember it as being much more tragic feeling than Columbia. I think because of all the buildup preceding it on behalf of Christa McAuliffe, the young schoolteacher. She was a little older than my bride to be and represented the common person on the flight. I remember watching it go up (live) and explode and it was like a hole was blasted right through me.... Took a while to recover from that one.... Columbia, while tragic, didn't have that same acute pang to it.
