AMERICA - The Right Way!! (WEEKEND EDITION - Days 686 and 687) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | December 7, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 12/07/2002 4:28:54 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

GLOBAL WARNING ACTIVIST ALERT!!

December 7 record low temperature:

Washington Dulles Airport - former record: 18 (set various years)
Washington Dulles Airport - new record: 3 (set in 2002)

Other temperatures around the Washington metro area:

Washington: 21 [not a new record]
Richmond: 21
Petersburg: 18
Patuxent River: 14
Roanoke: 13
Fredericksburg: 12
Charlottesville: 12
Lynchburg: 12
Manassas: 0 [ZERO]

Here, at the cottage: a nice, balmy 9.9

Question for the global warming people: considering that current low temperature records for the day were not simply broken, but crushed, does this fit your "models"? Hmmm?

In the news:

Runoff election day in Louisiana. And what would an election be if it didn't have a Criminal Party vote buying scandal? Landrieu is accused of trying to buy military votes with $10 Thanksgiving food gift certificates. The claim is reported in The Washington Times, and comes from Gen. George Peyton Cole, Jr., retired.

North Carolina has activated the National Guard to help storm victims.

And one of the hottest toys this Christmas shopping season? A talking President Bush doll. The Daily News reports the doll says "17 powerful and patriotic phrases," including:

"Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot shake the foundation of America."

"I will not yield. I will not rest. I will not relent in waging this struggle for freedom and security for the American people."

And what would a President Bush doll be without a mangled phrase? They included: "I will not hold this nation hostile."

Reportedly the manufacturer is also planning dolls for JFK, and President Reagan.

[They are also planning one for UOx42, but it is not clear whether one of the phrases for that doll would be: "I never had sex with that woman."]

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Fox News reported that the folks at Terrell's headquarters were upbeat,

Perhaps we could compose a dixie land tune titled

When The Rats Done Perished in the Parishes?

Let's put it this way. If there's an early projection in a couple of hours, it won't be for Mary Landrieu. 8^)

What time do polls close and what time do you expect to start getting news of returns?

We've been very lucky with our NWS people. They are really pumped up to teach people, and obviously love to discuss weather.

I'm back from drill for the night. After everyone ate turkey and all the trimmings, they decided they would rather knock off and go sleep than party. Which is weird, considering the folks in my unit. 8>) Highly uncharacteristic.

Polls close at 8 CST(just over an hour from now). I expect we should start getting some totals around 8:30, if past elections are any indicator.

Yes, I'm home ......... :-)

Exhausted and with lots to tell but too tired to go into it all tonight. Suffice it to say that God has been very good to us. With over 200,000 people in this area still without power, we are very fortunate to be back in a warm, snuggly, well-lit home!

Please keep praying for the many who still don't have any power ...... it's going down in the mid-20s tonight. We were able to get a hotel room so haven't suffered ..... but many haven't had that luxury.

It's been a wild and crazy and chaotic few days but we're fine! Praise the Lord!

I'm watching Cal Thomas' new show on FNC. He is interviewing Dick Cheney right now! And I'm being crafty. I collect snowmen, and have made many snowmen out of clothespin over the years. I got my box out this year, and I had five left (I give some away every year.) So I bought a package of 30 doll clothespins, and right next to them at the craft store were some little wooden snowmen, about 1 1/2" high. So I bought 30 of those. I've just painted the bodies of the clothespins an off-white, and the bodies of the little wooden snowmen white. Just waiting for them to dry, then I'll paint the hats black, dot the eyes, paint a little carrot nose, and tie a little ribbon scarf around each snowman's neck. And then glue some red, green, or gold cording on the top of the hat so that they can be hung on the Christmas tree. Oh, and I bought some gold glitter spray that I'll spray the little wooden snowmen to make them sparkle against the lights.

And on Monday night I am going over to my friend's house to help her decorate. Her husband is in Monterey, he is in the Army National Guard, and has been assigned there for a year to learn Russian. We're going to make little angels out of Hershey kisses, and I found a pattern to make angels out of 24 gauge wire. We found some colored wire today, red, green, copper, and gold. Her theme this year is angels. The angels are simple to make, and her kids can help us Monday night. Whew!

Darn. I heard Shep on FNC say that the sugar story was bigger than they thought it was. How nice, a lie won another election for the Dems.

Bummer! That is NOT the kind of news I was hoping to come home to. I guess the media will have a heyday saying that Bush used all his political capital back in November ...... pfffffttttt!

I've been going nuts the last few days ..... out of touch with the world. The cable at the hotel went on the fritz (I guess all over town) so I couldn't even catch up on news at night at the hotel. Y'all probably know more about what's been going on in this area than I do ..... LOL!

We have a few pics that I may try to send to someone to post in the next few days.
