Found this on the web today. It's about "Governor's schools," 6-week summer programs designed by the educational elites for gifted students in government schools. If you want to know what kind of "academic program" the educational establishment would really like to shove down our throats, look no further than the Governor's schools. Some selections from texts used:

A blatant anti-Christian diatribe from a radical feminist "witch," who likens Jesus Christ's death on the cross to necrophilia and sado-machochism.

A lecture from the attorney who defended "Jane Roe" in the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court case (with no balancing speaker from the pro-life side).

A reading praising pacifism lavishly praised a Mennonite who refused to register for the draft because he didn' t want to send a "hostile signal" to the Soviet Union.

Other readings condemned capital punishment; depict euthanasia as a human response to suffering; promote radical environmentalism, and satirize marriage as hopelessly unfair to women.

Pro-homosexual readings, films and discussions were presented. An essay in the "Tree Book" argues philosophically for "The Morality of Homosexuality." Author Michael Ruse writes:

There are, then, four independent rejoinders to the "unnatural argument" that has dominated both classical and modem discussions of homosexuality: it is false that animals are not homosexual; it is false that homosexuality must be an-tireproductive and nonbiological; it is false that homosexuality is to be judged without taking note of the cultural nature of humans; and it is false that what is unnatural is necessarily immoral.4

The "Tree Book" had an article by the 19th Century philosopher Ludwig Fuerbach. Karl Marx based his atheistic materialism on Fuerbach. Fuerbach's essay showed:

His chief aim in life was to change the "friends of God into friends of man, believers into thinkers, worshipers into workers, candidates for the other world into students of this world" and to assail the "supranaturalistic egoism of Christianity."

A former student had this to say:

They're taking the cream of the crop...the leaders of the next generation and pushing them into values that Governor Clinton has-that the leftist media has-the values that go totally against what this nation was founded on. This is what I was exposed to. There wasn't any warning, there wasn't anyone that said, "Okay, now you are going to have to take all the values you grew up with and put them on a shelf and be exposed to this." If my parents had known what was going on there, they wouldn't have let me go.

We watched movies like Harvey Milk (the homosexual San Francisco supervisor who was murdered by a city councilman in the 1970s). We learned about gay life style-those things your parents say, "This is wrong... You shouldn't see this type of thing because, hey, that's just not right."

They're bringing a political agenda in the guise of academic excellence....It was something that was well-orchestrated, well-organized, it was mind-bending and manipulative. And the faculty knew what was going on.

More astounding quotes:

The Arkansas Gazette quoted Ellen Gilchrist, an author, who told the 1985 Governor's School students:

I ask you to start ignoring your parents. Be really nice to them, and forget them. At the age you are now, it's time to start using your stuff, your real stuff.8

Mark Lowery, the Clinton staff member who became disillusioned, said:

The instructors tear down the student's authority figure system and help establish another one-the student himself. They convince the students that "You are the elite. The reason why you are not going to be understood when you go home, not by your parents, your friends, your pastor or anybody is because you have been treated to thought that they can't handle." This intellectual and cultural elitism gives students the "right" to say, "We know better than you."

After two former students committed suicide, the Joint Interim Education Committee of the Arkansas legislature held limited hearings on September 15, 1994. Shelvie Cole, a trained school psychologist testified. Her son Brandon committed suicide after attending the Governor's School. She said she was appearing both as a professional and as a parent. She also made it plain that she was not a religious zealot or a conservative, adding that, "The reason I am saying this is because anytime anyone seems to have a negative comment toward the Governor's School, they are automatically categorized into one of those groups, somehow negating their comments."9 WORLD magazine said her car had a Clinton-Gore sticker.10 She said: I had no idea the impact that Governor's School had on Brandon until I read his log after his death. I knew that he had begun to change; but when I began reading his log, I understood some of the things that had gone on within Brandon that were the result of some of his experiences at Governor's School. I am not going to give you secondhand information. I am going to let Brandon talk for himself because I am going to read directly from his diary that he kept while he was in Governor's School.

She then read from his log words written at the school:

We have truly been plucked out of our world. We live in the Governor's School world. I don't think I will be able to leave after this is over. Let me warn you that I am changing inside. I hope you will like me as I am, but I am learning a new outlook on life and reality....! feel sorry for people who aren't here. The outside world is so blind toward world events.

His final entry in the log said:

Governor's School helped me to separate myself from most of the people around me. The absence of being who I was known for gave me a chance to look inside of my real self. After I came back from the [3-day July 4th] break, my friends and I could tell that we had suddenly been transformed into free thinkers.

taken from the HSLDA weekly update!!
(Couldn't wait until tomorrow to post this ..
Recently, a public school principal in a Needville, Texas contacted the local Police Department concerning a home school family. The principal requested that the Chief of Police send a truancy officer to visit the homeschool family and demand that they file paperwork with the school district about their home school program. The principal insisted that this family was violating the compulsory attendance law in Texas and the children were truant until paperwork was filed with the school district.

What the principal didn't know, however, was that Chief of Police Michael Beard himself was a homeschool father! Chief Beard immediately called HSLDA to verify that Texas homeschool families are not legally required to submit any paperwork to the school district. HSLDA confirmed this. He also asked HSLDA for advice on how to handle the situation with the public school principal. HSLDA thanked Chief Beard for how he had handled the situation and also for his support of homeschooling. He replied, "I am very proud of my kids and I love home schooling."

We are grateful to God for His providence in bringing this homeschool father to our aid in just the right time at this small-town Police Department.

The transcript of "The Guiding Hand" video is available here. It's worth seeking out the video though (e-bay?). It's mind blowing.

I bet that principal is a little ticked off. Just goes to show that educrats are so ignorant of the laws but they are hell-bent on going after homeschoolers.

Yikes! Thank you for posting that expose on the "shepherding of the elite" that goes on under our noses. Yet another reason why we homeschool.

Have any of you, or anyone you know, ever used the "Switched on School" CDs?

It sounds great, but is it as good as old-fashioned text books and work books?

Thank you for any input,

We just had an incident here in E'town where the school admin offices sent out a letter asking families to send in their courses for "approval." HSLDA sent each family in the city limits a copy of the letter they sent to the schools. Even thou we are not affected as we live in the county school district, the money we spend on HSLDA is well worth worth it.

.....the money we spend on HSLDA is well worth worth it.

You better believe it! I know first hand how important it is to be a member of a state organization, as well as HSLDA. When Patrick and I first started home schooling 4 years ago, the principal of the local elementary school "tried" to bully me into bringing in our schedule, curriculum, etc. I refused, and she informed me I HAD to. I told her she'd be getting a call from our HSLDA attorney.
To make a long story short, phone calls were made to Bro. Joe Adams at CHEK, and he then in turn called HSLDA. We had a conference call, and they told me not to worry about a thing. They called the school, and I was left alone!
A word of advice for ALL home schoolers:

Advice to home schoolers:

1. Join HSLDA
2. Join a local support group
3. Buy a cordless phone
4. Keep your door locked

When the school officials show up, do not let them in. Keep them on the porch. Keep the kids out of sight. Offer to let them talk to your attorney - call HSLDA and then hand them the phone.
