You still have that snake under foot?
To: Sweet_Sunflower29
So given that he's apparently near your computer try coaxing him onto the scanner then post the pics.
Just teasing. Really if he's been in close proximity to you this long and hasn't bitten you he's gotta be harmless. Just reach down pick that sucker up give him a stern lecture and toss him outside. (He says knowing there's no FREAKING way he could ever do the same thing without havinga heart attack.)

Get a forked stick, pin its head to the floor, have someone bring you a cleaver, cut off its head, slit the skin lengthwise down the body and remove innards, put in a saucepan with cilantro and garlic, cook until tender, and enjoy!

Okay, you are at the computer, perhaps you can manage to set your hard drive on him while you get something better to handle him with. I don't know if that would hold him or not. I understand you wouldn't want to leave and not see where he takes off to.

Vanity Help identify this snake found in my bedroom! Please!! Could be any species of Democrat, but they are usually found crawling in the grass.

are there any obvious markers I can use to identify it?
There are lots and lots of snakes that pose no threat. Most of the really bad ones (in the US) (rattlesnakes and moccasins), except for the coral snake (red by black, friend of Jack, red by yellow, kill a fellow) and copperhead (relatively weak venom, rarely fatal), have fat heads and chunky bodies. GO to
this Yahoo! page for lots of links to sites about snakes.

Or one of these (common in your area)?
<<< these are longer snakes, so if it is a youngster, this may be your catch.

If you have a cat, the cat may have brought the snake in the house. My cats do.My cat brought in a snake, and it alarmed me. I even got a shovel to kill it if necessary because my wife was freaking out.
It was a relief and embarrassment to discover she had brought in a snake made out of rubber.

If you can, grab it with your thumb and forefinger just behind his head, then wrap your other fingers lower down on his body. You don't even have to squeeze very hard. Take him to the door, walk as far away from the house as you feel, and let him go on the ground. If you grab him right behind his head, he can't bite you.
He sounds harmless and he'll be good for eating bugs and other nasties that you probably don't want in your house. Plus it'll be a good story later on -- a lot better story than just killing it.

This is one of the few grey snakes I know of...

The Australian common brown sake don't have pointed head, but ranks #2 as the most deadly snake in the world.
To: Sweet_Sunflower29
Given the situation, I would probably crush it and feel really bad.
