This thread, hopefully, will be dedicated to parenting issues conservative face on a daily basis. The issues will be broad, but the primary focus will be on current events and how they effect raising children in today's liberal society.
I can not always start a new thread if we need one, so I envision a group effort. If a thread needs to be created, start one. There is no point person per se. We are all parents, we are all busy, and we can all take initiative when needed. Heck, we are parents.
This topic discussion is not just limited to parents, those who want to experience our parenting styles but have no children are welcome. We can learn from everyone. Young adults are especially welcome to add their perspective.
These are in no way set rules, but my ideas. Let's add to them, delete from them, or chuck the entire idea if it is too cheesy. (I just had to, sorry)
Let me try to explain how the Mean Mommies started. (Mo1, correct any inaccuracies) During the June Fundraiser, Mo1, expressed how she was being bombarded by neighbor kids (here after known as the 'village idiots') and the daily hassle it was because he Village Idiots were intruding on her family. Now, those kids live literally in her bushes. They appear at 6:00 AM, 2:00, PM, at dinner, or when the family is heading out to the beach. They are there constantly. So, Mo1, has put her foot down. The Village Idiots are allowed over some times, but not every waking second of every day. Mo1's kids hate her because they get grounded just to avoid the Village Idiots, and had dubbed her a Mean Mommy.
So, Mo1, are the Village Idiots still hassling your family?
This is the initial group. If this thread is a success, we all have to keep it updated. I can not be expected to run this on a daily basis, we all have to. That's where I need assurance from this core group, can we depend on you? There seems to be a huge interest with parenting, so we will need everyone to 'parent' these threads. Post your updates periodically for the rest of us. I can not spend every day here, just like all other parents and families. (Heh, I'd be single if that happened)
So, what do you all think? Good idea? Bad Idea? Can this be successful? Let's at least start the discussion, see where it leads.

My boys are all grown, but, I'd love to keep up. Many of my friends still have youngsters at home and the stuff they have to deal with. If you think I can be of any use, yes, count me in. I'll be glad to offer my "sage" advice. But, any advice given can also be the exact wrong thing. And again, sometimes advice coming from a fresh point of view could be helpful. This may just work.

Thought I'd give you folks a ping in case you're interested in this "project."

From the thread that prompted the start of this one ......
Instead of Mean Mommies, how about Peeved Parents? Dads have the right to say no, too!93 posted on 7/21/02 9:32 PM Eastern by hunter112

What's really great, is you will bring 'how to' advice that worked for you, and you can bring 'I tried it, and it completely failed' advice as well. Parents, grandparents, and kids are welcome. Since the liberal agenda is to indoctrinate our kids, to have them dependent upon socialist agendas, from birth to death, all viewpoints will be welcome. If I'm totally off base, you all have to let me know. I'm starting the discussion, but in no way, will I be the 'leader'. I hope to have us all contribute, add our experiences, our knowledge and our expertise on these threads.

"Instead of Mean Mommies, how about Peeved Parents?" I'm completely open to all ideas. I hope others are too. You're input is critical right now.

My kids are no longer at home, but I still like to see how others are raising their children, because lets face it, todays kids will be tomorrows voters, and politicians, and such, and their decisions and their actions affect all of us...
Perhaps Peeved Parents would be more inclusive, as we should never forget the dads, in their role of raising and disciplining the children...
To: Mo1
It's the alleration thing. Whatever the group decides. 'Village Idiots' has a good ring too. LOLOLOLOL

Although I very much like the idea of including both mommies and daddies in this thread, the idea of Peeved Parents might not pique the interest that we're hoping for ......
How about other suggestions ......
Proud Parents ?
Puzzled Parents ?
C'mon, FReepers! Put those thinking caps on ........

OK, here's a parenting issue I'm facing right now.
My girls are 20 (21, March 11), 19 (20 April 5th) and 16. The 16 year old will be gone on vacation with her dad. (no way would the following situation happen if she was home, we aren't planning on telling her either, at this time).
We live out in the country. (no neighbors but cows and corn) My two older girls want to have a bon fire party with their friends. It will be a beer party. The rules are, drop your keys in a bucket, and spend the night. They can pitch tents and sleep over. They have a great circle of friends. I've met 80% of them and they are good, deceint kids. My husband is having a cow about it. When I was young, the drinking age was 18. Should we do this? I have confidence in my girls, they are, for the most part, good kids (now that they aren't 15). What would everyone here do? Should we do it or should we say 'no way'?????
