Good job with the cable. You'll soon love the internet without aohell guiding you around like some sort of invalid. The freedom is wonderful. ;-)

Good afternoon....Gran, your pics are great as usual...

Loddy...Love that wolf picture....BigDom has a special love for wolves....every year, his new calendar that he hangs up, is a calendar of wolves....this is the third year we have a wolf calendar in the house...

Tho, in special competition with the wolves calendar, is the basset hound calendar, sent to me by none other than Miss Palo....so the wolf calendar hangs in the bedroom, and the basset hound calendar hangs in the computer room...

And now back to Pike Market...Pike Market is definitely 'animal' friendly...so many of the local shoppers, come shopping with their dogs...we saw no end of various dogs, out for a day of shopping with their human companions...we saw several mixed breeds, and many pure breeds...dalmations, german shepherds, chihuahuas, rottweilers, labs, and the prize find was a pair of basset hounds, named appropriately, 'Romeo and Juliet'....they were an absolutely beautiful pair of basset hounds, and just as sweet, and friendly and slobbery as one could possibly wish for...owned by an older gentlemen, who you could tell, loved his pair of chunky, stumpy pals, as much as he loved himself...his eyes beamed with pride, as I fussed and fussed over his precious pair...he made my day at the Market...

People watching is always fascinating at the Market, for one never knows what or who they may see...I once saw one of our local Newscasters, enjoying a Chinese meal, at one of the many open air places...I once saw a Native American elderly woman wearing a dress made out of tree bark...

This last trip up to the Market, also let us see many characters...there was a whole large group of folks who arrived in the Market...all the ladies in the group wore identical light yellow suits, and white hats, and all the gentlement in the group, wore light yellow shirts, tans pants, and a brown tie...they were all carrying books and briefcases, and once in the market, they split up into groups of one woman paired up with one man...I could not quite pick up on their nationality...they appeared to be either Asian, or Phillipino...just could not get a handle on it...they set about preaching to various people they stopped in the market...they did not stop us, and tho they piqued my interest, I did not approach them, as I did not want to waste time with them...dont know what they were talking about, but they were quite enthusiastic....

There were the usual number of foreign tourists, so many different tongues, and accents were heard...its always fun to try to guess where folks are from, by how they are speaking...

And there were the expected street performers...guitar players, banjo players, fiddle players, puppeteers, singers, story tellers, etc...most street performers have a hat or instrument case, in which they collect donations...all part of the flavor of the market...one year there was even a kettle drum band set up in the park at the Market, entertaining the crowds...

The vendors themselves are interesting...most of the craft dealers, are just small business people either with home crafts or small home businesses....apparently there is some sort of complicated process whereby its determined which vendor has which space, a process that is adhered to quite strictly...all the vendors are good natured, and they also watch each others stalls, if a particular vendor needs to take a lunch break or a potty break...you know if you want to buy something, but the vendor is not there, his neighbor vendor will do your transaction, and you can be assured, that the correct vendor will receive his money....its all very friendly and honest...I think the really good feeling I get about buying in the market, is that we are supporting the local community...many of the vendors, especially the fish and produce vendors, are family vendors, there since the Market opened so many years ago, and passing down the trade to their children and grandchildren...

Some other odd looking folks at the Market...a young street performer, with big spiked hair, and lots of liprings, nose rings, and earrings, and having a small cute little dog for a sidekick...a big hefty gent, shopping at the vendor stalls, and wearing more iron necklaces, and bracelets, than I have ever seen on any human being...I am surpised he did not fall through the street, with all that metal on him....two 80something ladies, decked out quite like prim ladies, wearing big fancy hats, little high heels, white gloves, and flowery dresses, and of course, lots of makeup.....

One other sight remains with me...we were sitting outside, enjoying our Turkish delight purchase....a steady stream of cars was coming down that part of the street that was open, looking for free parking(good luck)...a big Harley motorcycle was in that stream...

The driver of the Harley, was just so odd looking...he must have been in his 50s, wearing his Harley helmet...had a big flowing beard, but was wearing a t-shirt, very short shorts, and wearing motorcycle boots...in his lap, sat the cutest, tiniest white dog, one of those dogs with the long frou-frou fancy fur, and the dogs head fur, all pulled back and tied together with a cute pink bow...they were quite the sight...this big tough guy, on his big tough Harley Hog, wearing his little short shorts, and his boots and helmet, and having this little pooch in his lap...everyone just grinned when he passed by...

Such are the sights at the Market....

Thats so funny, you and I both love our bassets, and have a basset calendar, and our hubbies love wolves, and have wolf calendars....

We have a wonderful place here in Western Washington, near a town called Tenino, which is called Wolf Haven....its a place where wolves have been placed, many of these wolves having been raised up in private homes, or in situations, which make them be unsuitable for return to the wild...here at Wolf haven, they try to pair a female up with a male, and provide them with outdoor pens, trying to simulate living in the wild...

They have regular tours through there, where you can observe these wolves, ,and they have a Friday nite, 'Howl-in' where people can go and hear a narrative about the wolves, ,and then around a campfire, the people howl, and encourage the wolves to join in...

We have been there a couple of times, and its really neat to see these wolves...I think there may be a website about this place, let me go search around and find out...

habs did you ever see that movie
maybe it was called ''Key West''
directed by Cecil B DeMille
both men were in love with the girl (a wild and wonderful girl)
John Wayne and Ray Milland (?)
John Wayne was daring captain of a ship
as rugged a man as could be
Ray Milland seemed like a fop, he had little pomeranian with pink bow he took with him everywhere
and he would talk to it, and have it ''talk'' back
both men were in love with her
she went for John Wayne and was disgusted by Ray Milland (the fop)
however at end Ray Milland turned out to be the strongest one and won her heart
I thought it was funny that hero was a fop lol
andysmom's story reminded me of it
it's always fun when things are against stereotype

Here is the website for you, Palo, really for you to show to Bill.....it is.....www.wolfhaven.org....

Its an extremely nice website..it tells all about Wolfhaven, and when you explore the website, you will come upon the 'adoption' area, where they have individual pics of all the resident wolves, with a biography of each wolf, and how they came to wind up at Wolfhaven.....

There is also a page, where they display pics of those wolves which previously lived at Wolfhaven, and have gone on to the Rainbow Bridge...

I think you and Bill might like to explore this site together....its really wonderful to see all the individual wolves pics, and their own history and a little bit about each ones personality...

Have fun with this site...

I think you will both really enjoy that site, especially the individual biographies and stories about each wolf...

The first time we ever went out there, was right after we had moved out here, which is now almost 20yrs ago...WolfHaven has really built up a lot since then...

But on that first time we were out there, it was a really miserable rotten rainy day, and Andy and I were the only ones out there, early in the morning...so the guide took just Andy and me on the tour, and it was really great, because it was like an individual tour....

Nowdays, with more advertising, and time that has passed, and WolfHaven has become more and more well known, the tour groups sometimes get quite large....which is indeed all towards the good, as most monies are used to help the wolves...

But it sure was nice, way back when, to get such an individual tour...

I am glad that there is such a place as WolfHaven, which rescues these otherwise unsaveable wolves...

thank you for your loving wishes for a happy friday loddy
I wish you a wonderful day too
I am having enjoyable day
swimming was lovely
I posted more political perceptions on that libertarian site
(and again have been totally ignored lol)
but I got an insight from one of my perceptions
I hadn't realized that stifling myself from posting perceptions, was stopping me from having new ideas
the act of expressing myself stimulated my mind and I came up with new idea

here is the idea I got
I asked myself, why is billclinton pushing so hard to get Dem Governors elected in all States in 2002?

there are many reasons for it (I bet)

Governor controls the Secretary of State
and Secretary of State counts the votes
if he won the Governors, can you see how a fraud operation can be put in place

remember the famous line from ''Key Largo''
the gangster (Edward G Robinson) tells Humphrey Bogart
''It's not who votes which counts, it's who counts the votes. We count the votes and keep counting the votes till we win''
