AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 536) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | July 10, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 07/10/2002 4:11:28 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail! [President Bush]

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

WorldCom announced they will decide within the next three weeks whether they have to file for bankruptcy protection. Analysts seem to think it is a foregone conclusion. It would be the largest such filing in US history, doubling the size of the Enron folding.

An Al Qa'eda audio tape has a spokesperson assuring the world The Evil One and Mullah Omar are alive and well.

A group of parents in Oakland, CA, are suing the school district for violation of the Establishment Clause. No, this time it is not Christianity that is at question. The action focuses on what has popped up in the news of late about certain practices in public schools in Kantafordia. According to The Washington Times, the parents filed suit because the schools, after September 11, "encouraged students to wear Muslim robes, adopt Islamic names, and stage make-believe pilgrimages to Mecca to learn about the faith."

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

I found this thread particularly disturbing.

Yes, it is.

But it also points out the country is no longer naive.

One year ago, people would have thought they were just blowing smoke. Now they are arrested.

An improvement. But we must remain vigilant!

Sorry, dearie, I forgot to reply!

Thanks!....Yes, a July 3rd anniversary almost always insures we'll have fireworks .....in some form, LOL!

Holding, I was brought up Baptist, but married Lutheran (like you)....

...belonged to a Lutheran church for 12 years.....

...The biggest argument we had there was whether to keep using the red hymnals or go to the new green hymnals...LOL....

...truly, the regular folks (mostly Scandanavian heritage)... could get pretty heated at the thought of new fangled hymnals.

We sang the old hymns......no praise choruses at this church.

Our pastor was a dear, solid, conventional, conservative, Wheaton grad, German Lutheran.

....We left the church when we realized the ELCA would take over the autonomy of our dear little church and direct us to liberal theology......and our pastor retired to Arizona to minister to the indians.

God directed us to the Presybyterian PCA......where we've been very happy for years.

The good, the bad, and the ugly.....

The Blonde and I have completed our move to Nashville (actually Hendersonville just north of Nashville). We found the perfect house at a steal of a price (appraised for 50K more than we paid. Huge lot, all brick (the house, not the lot), huge deck with built-in pool, and just perfect for us. All on one floor, no more stairs. VERY large pond in the back yard, which has an island, and with 3 resident ducks. (Named them Hughey, Dewey, and Louie, what else?)

Bad news is that the job didn't work out as explained to me, so I am once again unemployed. I've got two good headhunters looking for me so we're hoping something turns up soon.

It is great to be back and have th 'puter running so I can keep in touch with all the wonderful people and friends on FR.

I, like you, am disturbed by the changes in the church. I've offered to go to Mass with Mr HOB, but he wants o stay in the Lutheran church. Go figure, he's very much a conservative, but doesn't see it in this church unless I point it out. We are looking for a new home. I am confident that we will find it.

I can understand his wanting to stay......especially if this denomination is close to his heart......and it's hard, hard, hard to leave .....and it's hard to want to see the truth of what is happening to these mainline churches.

We left dear, caring friends in the church when we left.....Folks who had loved us & loved our children.

Most of them are German, or Danish, Swedish heritage, and couldn't bring themselves to leave, even though they were frustrated with the 'new' ideas coming into the church.

....Some of the younger couples left with us, or soon after, because they didn't want their children compromised by the liberal liturgy & Sunday School material.

It's a difficult decision.....and it truly felf (to us) like a divorce must feel.

I was in my new church for almost a year, and still felt how easy it would be to just go back to that little church where everyone knew me, and I wouldn't have to learn new stuff or assimilate into a new church family.

But I didn't.

...and it was one of the best decision I've ever made.

Thanks Guennie. It's hard for Mr HOB since this church and the former pastor recieved him into the church so readily.
He's very comfortable in the Lutheran church because he feels needed and comfortable in the closeness of the community. I am especially disturbed by the interim pastor. I am going to give the new pastor time to adjust to the church community and see if like his style and messages in his sermons. We'll see.. in the meantime I am still looking.

Good Morning Jemian and all you ladies out there: I have long said that Estrogen and the "synthetic" Progesterone combination, was a dangerous drug for those women who have not had a hysterectomy. Estrogen, used with the natural cream Progesterone, has not shown negative results in recent studies.

We had summer here on the N OR coast! It came on July 9th this year and was 99 degrees! Now, we are back to the mid 50's.

Wow Bit,

Big discussion going on local radio show out of Milwaukee (WTMJ...Charlie Sykes) about the All Star Game last night.

Bud Selig called the game after 11 innings because the teams were out of pitchers. Fans, who paid 500 - 600 dollars for seats were extremely upset. Can't blame the fans.

We've got these million dollar players who can't play a little more for the fans? Selig absolutely made the wrong decision. I am sorry... but you play the game. That's what baseball is all about!

My view might be clouded with just having read Black Hawk Down, where rangers who were shot repeatedly, continued on in the fight. They didn't quit.

Where in the heck have we gotten, when the players have become so pampered, that they play the game for 15 minutes, and then their done?!!!

I find it odd that neither coaches nor Selig asked the players if there were any volunteers to finish out the game. I also find it incredible that a pitcher is tired after only 2 innings.

Selig is not the guy for MLB. He never has been. MLB needs a Pete Rozelle and right away...

kachina, it just makes my day to hear from you. Don't give up! You will find the right job for you and the house sounds perfect.

NY - I agree with you...will be interested to hear some of the radio comments later.

OTOH, it was an exhibition game, but by cutting it short, for those reasons...an abomination!! Selig out to go ASAP!

Did you feel that jolt off the Oregan coast the other day??
