Could this also be affecting the way men are feeling about marriage today?

The women know they have the power of the law and the courts behind them

Unfortunately this is true. Men are regularly denied access to their children because of false claims by the wife who probably already has another boyfriend in tow. She continues to collect a good percentage of his paycheck, yet he has to fight to see his kids. The final insult is that he can't even deduct it on his income tax returns.

If he falls behind in his payments the county steps in and deducts it from his paycheck, then they start collecting high interest on the amount, so he is not only indebted to his ex, but is also indebted to the county. I know two young men this happened to, and both of them say they will never marry again.

Thanks for the ping. I have been divorced for 22 years and I intend to stay that way. The kids are all grown and I have a couple of nice ladies that I see from time to time. I have the best of both worlds. LOL!!

I can sympathize with Peter Pans....this type of divorce has happened within my own family and it has turned me off of marriage as well.

I've been married nearly 20 years, was a divorced mom for 10 years, I choose to be "real" pickey when I remarried as I did not want a repeat of my first marriage. I'll take a GOOD marriage any day of the week.

I remember a similar posting a while back. The situation is very bad for both men and women, but it is just devastating for the unfortunate children who are caught in the middle. My heart aches for them. Some previous poster's comment about a need for child advocacy is spot on.

Thanks for the ping, Deoxyribonucleic (May I call you by your first name?).

That is just about the most stupid and self-serving post I've seen here, and I've been here awhile. This issue is like a Rorschach test for people. I think any reasonable person would argue that both genders are subject to human nature, for better or worse. No gender has a monopoly on virtue or vice. The relative virtue of men and women, however, is not the subject of the article. The article deals with the proposition that the family law system is causing men to rethink marriage, and that many women can't find marriage minded men. I think both are true.

As I said, it's amazing what one finds posted on these threads. One sure sign of a feminazi attitude is the seemingly uncontrollable urge to define any issue or problem as being a man's fault...it's reflexive, like Bush-bashing. It's easy to spot...look at any thread that examines the social effect of this particular area of law, and you'll find women blaming men. To my way of thinking, it reinforces the article.

Bob, you know that if she was forced to stray, it's because you weren't a better husband/kinder/more thoughtful/more sensitive, etc...

This is one of the few areas where guy do have a choice...and control. I'm amazed at the number of posters who think that men "had it coming" when they got married/had sex, etc...then bitch because men don't choose to play anymore.

Actually the article wasn't about whether people have been treated unfairly in family court...it's about whether it's inherent in the family court system, and whether men have changed their behavior toward women because of that inherent flaw.

You do understand the difference, I hope?

This thread is probably the greatest incentive that I've seen to get a vascectomy.

Undoubtedly the response from women has been an eye opener.
