Wildfires in the west are consuming acerage at a rate about double the usual 10-year average.

China is planning to buy eight more Russian submarines.

President Bush has signalled he does not want to see AMTRAK shut down.

And shares of the Martha Stewart company Living Omnimedia fell by 18% yesterday.

Thought I had a S. Dakota, but can't find it.

Each map is chock full of info. If any of you or your children love Maps as I do, they will love this one.

The top of each folded map is a lovely painting of a scene from the state, like a mountain valley, etc.

Good to see some positive words.

Yes, it is good to see something positive about the President in the press. I spent some time last night perusing some of the speech threads on FR last night (not always too good for the ol BP!) and was amazed at how many could read that speech, or hear that speech, and conclude that President Bush has given in to terrorism. It boggles my poor feeble mind! ;)

I guess I just don't have that preconceived NYTs grasp on what the President meant vs. what he said.

Oh well, today is a new day, and at least here on the ATRW thread, sanity still holds sway!!

Mine too - I mean, the President is being very clear. Arafat is connected to terrorism, so much so that guy can no longer see himself clear to any other course. The President said the Palestinians can have their own State in three years - IF THEY DUMP ARAFAT.

To me, that would be the opposite of supporting terrorism. "Want to be independent? All right. Get rid of the terrorists and you can."

Seems quite straight-forward to me.

You know yesterday after President Bush gave his speech, I knew exactly what he had said. He said, (not exactly this way) "There will be no Palestinian state until they get a new leader". I took that to mean that Arafat had to go before anything could be done. Arafat=Terrorism so how in the world do people here on the OTHER SIDE come to the conclusion that he had given in to terrorism? HELLO? Anyone home?

For goodness sakes, even the Mayor of Jerusalem was on PMSNBC and had to correct David Gregory for his report of what President Bush actually said. Of course, that's a totally different story as we would be talking about the media cesspool.

At least some of us understand what the meaning of "is" is. ;-)

AND A GOOD A.M. TO 'THE BEST' OUT IN FREEPER LAND, USA FROM THE MS GULF COAST, USA!!!! Talking about how hot it is, today on the coast, verrrrry plesant, not hot, not cole, couldy, its one of those '10' days, for the moment but it will change.

I would like to ask your your prayers today, my oldest daughter I am taking to N.O. to a doctor as she has to have reconstruction surgery on her jaw. The local doc said it was out of this expertise and he is the best on the coast. I ask for prayers that the news will be good news and it is not as bad as we think.

MP celebrated her 30th, wonderful to see love still sticking together but let me tell you how I got to 43 with my wife, Treva. In the 50's in the south, respect for parents was still in vouge. He is how my future was. I had grown up with my then the 'catch of the day' for me and pre service stint, she was plump, did not say much, the average but, I had this mad crush on her lets say from the 2nd grade. When I came home from the service I couldn't believe it, shaped like a coke bottle, hair like silk, WOW! Of course it was an all out asault, full steam ahead. One problem. Parents. In shcool I had the reputation of liking the ladies and it was STRICTLY rumors, and her parents knew my parents, father killed in car wreck when I was 12, but he was popular with the gals also in his school days. Momma would not let her date me, the shame, the shame. Soooo, I did the honorable thing, I went to her house and ASK permission to date Treva, after a couple weeks, it was OKed.
THE PERFECT GENTLEMAN I was, I had to have her home be 10, done deal, had to go to church with her, done deal. So, I got this idea that I would make the best husband in the world for her, BUT, the momma didn't think that was such a good idea. Plan 2, woe and wow the mom, didn't work. Plan 3, tell moma that I was going to marry her, no go. I was in the pits UNTIL Treva steped up to plate and she told them she WANTED to marry me. This did it BUT, the final act. I put on my best suit, got my car, drove to their home, a little modest home, knocked on the door and made my pitch, I had to seek permission from her father to marry her. This wasn't one of 'I want to marry your daughter' kind of thing, it was what kind of marrige and what kind of life was I going to provide for his daughter, it took 4 hours before he said' OK son, she'll be in good hands, I approve'. His approval I tried to live up to for 43 years and I hope I met it. I can honestly say that those 43 years have been the best and proudest of my life and I were to die tomorrow, I can say that I was given the best gift ever from God, my now departed wife.

OUR Presient W latched it up a notch on Arafat didn't he? He told it like it is but, its going to be the same ole same ole, its the money factor for the inner group around
Arafat. Its going to work only if Arafat leaves this world.
GOD is going to take care of Israel as the Jewish people and Israel is the 'Apple Of His Eye'.

While its plesant outside, think I will cut the ole yard so, Prayers for God to keep you safe from harm, from sickness and that you have a wonderful day. Prayers for OUR President W, so stong, so tall and for the elderly, always ready to lend a ear and dish out tons of love.
