Man Gets Special Probation For Shooting Cat With Arrow

MANCHESTER, Conn. -- A local man accused of shooting a cat with a bow and arrow has been granted a special form of probation.
Superior Court Judge Jorge A. Simon also ordered 22-year-old Jesse Reimann to do 50 hours of community service with the Connecticut Humane Society, make a $500 contribution to the society and pay $500 toward the cat's veterinarian bills.
Reimann is in an accelerated rehabilitation program for six months. If he successfully completes the program, a cruelty to animals charge against him can be dismissed.
Reimann was charged with cruelty to animals for shooting his neighbor's cat with an arrow Feb. 28. The black-and-white cat, named Lucky Jr., showed up at the home of his owner, Lisa Negedly, the day after the incident, with a foot-long arrow sticking out of its chest. Negedly said her cat's veterinarian thinks the cat was initially pinned to the ground by the arrow, which didn't pierce any major organs or arteries.
The cat has made a full recovery.
Reimann refused comment, and his lawyer could not be reached.

Not shoot with an arrow that's for sure. I vote for the alternative of using a sledgehammer or a nice rusty leghold trap.

What kind of animal trophies do you have?
None.
Me neither. I et mine. The rest becomes compost and boy, I have a lot of WONDERFUL cucumbers and tomatoes this year...

What kind of a wimpy bow was he using?Inasmuch as it didn't do the job, a wimpy bow indeed. Judging from the description of a foot long arrow, my guess would be a weak or poorly aimed crossbow.
Whoever shot it needs training, not animal sensitivity courses.

Poorly aimed? No, I think weak must be the case. With a bow suitable for hunting you hit any part of that cat and you are gonna get a passthrough, field point or broadhead. Either that or the cat's gonna drop dead.

Actually bird crap isn't too bad unless you are in their rookery and there is mold present, in which case you might get aspergillosis. But it is highly unlikely unless there is a great concentration of the stuff.
Oh and you *can* get giardia or salmonella if you want to *eat* the bird droppings.
So I guess the answer is no. Unless they keep pooping on my beach towel.
