Now if they would only bring back the old Amos 'n' Andy TV show, which is no more stereotypical of blacks than Abbot & Costello and The Honeymooners are stereotypical of whites.

Still being held incommunicado, however; the Freeto Bandito.

This is great news. As a hispanic, who happens to share the same last name, I NEVER took offense to the characters of Speedy Gonzales. It was, in fact, a source of pride. I guess it helped that I was a fast runner too, in my youth.
I am glad that various hispanic groups jumped in on this bandwagon and saw it for what it was, PC gone amok.

I love it! Welcome back, Speedy!
Did anyone see the Yosemite Sam/Bugs Bunny cartoon only a couple weeks back, where Yosemite & Bugs are running around the casbah in the desert, Yosemite wearing an Arafat-like cover on his head, and Bugs yelling "YOO-HOO!!! MISTER AAAAA-RABBBBB!" Priceless! I am so glad they "realize" that yes, these old cartoons are FUNNY!

If they had manged to ban Speedy, I was looking for Pepe Le Pew to be next, because of that cartoon's HORRIBLE stereotyping of the French.

Funny how they never worried about the white people who might have been offended at the incompetent Elmer Fudd or outlaw Yosemite Sam.
As an aside, isn't it strange how Howell Heflin and Ernest Hollings match Foghorn Leghorn?
To: mhking
Most excellent news, suggestive of a return to sanity in the sad, sad, United States of America.

I guess Dan Rather would say Cartoon Network took him off because they got a case of the Speedies.
To: mhking
Yes, and Mexicans DO talk like that, too. But when did a stereotype ever have to be totally baseless before it offended the PC crowd?
