I'd like to share a photo of my dad, taken in France in 1944:

He was a very handsome man; I can tell you're still very proud of him.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and kind thoughts while dh was away on business. He got back in yesterday afternoon. He brought me back a beautiful Halcyon Days enamel box of Buckingham Palace, and he told me that the next time he goes, he wants me to go too. =)

Hill and Fintan I know you two were just kidding. You two sounded so cute, just thought I'd add to it. Hope you had a great week end.

38sw So sorry to hear he has passed. It's sad that so many of our WWII vets are gone. My father died a few years ago, but my uncle died just last year. I wish I had talked to dad more about his adventures as an Army solider. I did however, have a chance to speak to my uncle about Normandy.

Aggie Mama, that Powell picture is funny.

Well Guilders, in case you missed my prior post. I have the grandkids here with me for a month, (at least). I know my time on FR will be limited as they will keep us busy for sure.
This morning, I woke up, made pancakes, did 3 loads of laundry, went to the groceries, fed them lunch all before lunch. Whew! They are outside playing, so I have a few minuets to Freep. They're sooo funny, it's a treat to have them here.

BigWavebetty, the 3rd grandson stayed up with me to watch WWF Raw last night, LOL,LOL.

It is sad that many of the WWII vets have passed and more passing every day. I plan to order my father's service records, so I will at least know a little more about what he may have done, and where he had been. It wasn't something he talked about.

What a great idea. My dad didn't want to talk about it either. My uncle did. He was a very active memeber of the American legend and other vets organizations. He told me, just before he died, how he and his vet brothers met every day for coffe at the Burger King. Everyone is differnt. For my uncle, it was an adventure. For my dad, no way! Mom used to tell us not to ask him too many questions about the war. Thanks ;^)

New York State candidate for governor, Andrew Cuomo, right, is joined on stage by his father, Mario Cuomo, center, at a rally in New York, Wednesday, May 22, 2002. Cuomo has decided to bypass the state party convention and instead ask rank-and-file Democrats to put him into a Sept. 10 primary against state Comptroller H. Carl McCall.

EWWW! Cuomo/Kennedy demo rat in NY. Yuk, can it get any worse in NY?

Pope John Paul II and President Bush shake hands during their meeting at the Vatican Tuesday, May 28, 2002. Bush took before the pontiff his concerns about the state of the Roman Catholic church in the United States in light of the sexual abuse scandals. Bush met the pope after attending a NATO-Russia meeting on the outskirts of Rome earlier in the day.

Thanks for find those! Yes, there is some resemblance. Amazing. When dad was in his 60's, people told him he looked like Steve Allen. I think he did.

Oh, I'm glad you posted that photo, Teacup. I didn't even hear that W was meeting the Pope today. W is looking very solicitously and tenderly at the Pope, who must be in so much pain from his physical ailments.
