Of Course you are wrong. (just trying to stir up something more provacative than a discussion of recipes here-no offense). Boromir wanted to use the Ring, but WAS NOT committed to the idea of stealing it throughout the Fellowship's journey. He obviously succumbed to its corrupting influence late in the journey, and then redeemed himself. But the idea that he was a scheming bastard all though the second book in the Fellowship is false. He fell off the wagon in a heartbeat. Important distinction. :)

How did you do on your 4100 posts? - Did you get very far, or did our endless babble turn you to stone?
To: HairOfTheDog
Actually, I am about to start now.

Thanks for the ping. Unfortunately I haven't been able to follow the discussions for the past couple of weeks or so -- work always seems to get in the way of the really important things in life.
I finally got to the theater last week to see LOTR (the movie only just made it to Japan this month), and the three hours rushed by so quickly that I could actually feel the breeze on my face! The movie does a hop, skip, and jump through the book, and at times it seemed more like an Indy Jones movie -- zipping from one adventure to the next -- than the long, difficult quest the book portrays, but it was still well worth seeing.
On a note aside, both times I saw the movie I had to stop myself from snickering at what was intended to be a very serious moment. When Pippin accidently knocks the skeleton down the well in the Mines of Moria, alerting the orcs (and the Balrog) to the presence of the Fellowship, Gandalf turns with a scowl to scold Pippin, all the while holding open the book he had been reading. I couldn't help but think of the old Bugs Bunny/Yosemite Sam episode with "the nose-in-the-book penalty," and I half-expected Pippin to walk over and get what was coming to him.

Glad you finally got to see it! Yes it does move at warp speed through our story doesn't it? I do recommend seeing it at least a second time. As it gallops along, there are a lot of little details given to us by Jackson, that you can't get in one viewing. Especially the first viewing where you are still in wow mode.
I giggle too at what is supposed to not be comedy, during the Indiana Jones scene at the falling stairway. Aragorn and Frodo guiding in the falling ruin by "leaning" with it is a little much for me... and why on earth would Frodo be the LAST one helped across anyway? Penny1 saw the film with me again yesterday, and we (affectionately of course) laughed out loud about that, ALA Mystery Science Theater 3000.
Was it subtitled in Japanese then? (As opposed to being dubbed) The subtitles would not be necessary for you I suppose except for the parts where they are speaking elvish. Is the film well recieved over there? - Are the books popular?

Happy for you - is the movie doing well in Japan? Do see it again, as Hair suggested, if possible. There are things I didn't notice until viewing 5 - every time you see another layer.

Good morning Jen! - our chat hidey hole is down now for maintenance... so I will hang out here and chat with you if you like while I have my coffee...
Finally bought some good coffee again so I can use the espresso maker. Woo Hoo what a difference that makes!
It is snowing. It doesn't snow here in March. The ponies are fed but they hate to walk in it. Just a few days ago it was warm out and they could run naked on the grass. Now they have to wear their heavy blankets blankets again and slip when they try to walk.
To: HairOfTheDog
I'm sorry to hear your ponies are not happy! It rained a lot last night and the little streams are swollen, and it looks like rain today, but it's pretty warm out. I've got my Dr Pepper and we're planning our day (evil sisters want to leave the boys with me and see LotR).
Last night when it was raining, I looked outside and through the trees could see lights from a nearby house. I could, because of the darkness, almost persuade myself that it was an elf-glade with lights high in the tree. Very cool!

Or the lights from the house of Tom Bombadil! - Hi! Ho! Merry dol!
This snow can't amount to much. It was sent to the wrong address.
To: HairOfTheDog
Let it go to Hobbiton and cool the Hobbits' toes! They will welcome it!
Sigh... I'm getting ready to take siblings to a movie, as promised. Not fun... but I'm a good big sister. Most of the time. I won't feel guilty about locking them in the closet this evening so I can use the internet.

My dal-brador is chasing all the birds who are trying very hard to find a seed or two under the trees where there isn't any snow. I should put some bird seed out - on the other side of the fence, where they could have a decent breakfast and giggle at the silly dog.
To: JenB
hehehe - Think of me while you are watching Ice Age with the kiddies... Something is up with the weather.
To: HairOfTheDog
Our golden retriever is similar - he chases deer out of the yard! And barks at joggers - they all know him and tell him "Be quiet, Harry!" It's a good thing he barks at everything, if burglars showed up, we'd be awakened in time to find him licking them to death.

Well with all the girls going somewhere today, Where are OT and Carton? Maybe I can flirt with the boys if they come around today!
To: HairOfTheDog
That reads wrong, I know, it is the espresso talking... I mean all the girls are missing today, you, Penny1, 2JM, and OT and Carton so far... and I am hoping the boys show up (ecurbh and Dan and others) to keep me company. I am visiting with the DD this morning. They are early risers.

My favorite website for movie pics
Quintessential Websites looks like it is undergoing a major remodel. Looks like she has finally gotten around to incorporating all her unincorporated shots, the trading card images and the chapter-by-chapter part into one new place, that will be called "Scene-by-scene images". What she has done so far is worth checking out... Here is a rare shot of the Sackville-Bagginses, which must have ended up on the cutting room floor...

Where are OT and Carton? OT was putting in some...well...OT at the lab this morning. But I'm back now. I don't think Carton has a home computer yet.
To: HairOfTheDog
A jolly looking couple to be sure.
To: Overtaxed
Yes, a cheerful couple of hobbits. Looks like they were perfectly cast, but we didn't get to see them ;~D
To: HairOfTheDog
Too bad. I'd like to see Lobelia get in a little umbrella action. :)
