New Feature - Ability to add previously posted Thread to Topic
Posted on 03/13/2002 5:48:17 PM PST by John Robinson
We now offer the ability for users to add an existing, previously posted thread to a topic or list of topics. This feature will support the migration of the bump list register to topics.
This new feature is found via the thread page (posts), in the righthand TOPICS column, and is labelled "Click to Add Topic". Clicking the link will bring up a form, which currently only prompts for a list of comma-separated topics. In the future, this will be a comprehensive topic select screen.
TOPICS: Focus Software

Forget it. The pool-poopy thread is gone forever.
I'm still trying to get all of Coyote's threads dug up.

All these changes are confusing me. Now we have two forum pages. I take a day off from FreeRepublic, and everything is changed when I get back. I'm going to Chicago next week, will I be able to find my way through the forum when I get home???
To: John Robinson
I have no clue what this means so I will pass on this feature:>)

It depends on which forum you're in.
Go to the other forum and do the self search.
It caught me by surprise too.

Hey John, on the 'new all forums self search' we need a way to get back to the forums.
Something on the order of the
[ Threads | Comments | Self-Search | Search | Topics | Post | Settings | Help! ] bar maybe.

He does good work!

I'm going to Chicago next week, will I be able to find my way through the forum when I get home???No. It's supposed to be a secret, and everybody else is in on it.
We're changing the locks after you leave. {;-)

Excellent feature...hope it's not abused.
Also love the all-forum search!! Thank you, John!!
Let's chit-chat about food and books on this thread.

Good call. I'm hungry. I'll think I'll go get leftovers from dinner. We went to this Lebanese place and brought home a ton of food.

It looks like a fine idea to me, and I hope I'll keep my wits about me and remember to use it... judiciously.
I realize there is potential for abuse, and indeed, I have noticed the bump lists growing to rather obese proportions, and looking rather choatic... yet at least the information is in one easy to find location.
That is the big problem with the 'net- rather than too little information, there's too dang much of it.

Can I play the violin while I'm using this new feature?
To: John Robinson
You probably already know this, but I have noticed that Bookmarks are not yet working in the new forum.
But we are patient, and understanding! at least I am :)

I am so confused about the changes in general. Please direct me to the nearest help station. What does it mean "News/Activism" vs. "General Interest"? And what is the purpose of the changes? Am I accessing the totality of the "Recent Posts" lists, or just one topic?
How come my self-search doesn't have any choices of where to go at the top...I must escape to get back to the previous screem?
