Op-Ed: Cybertruck Owners May Want to Sue for Fraud

Elon Musk's angular truck appears to be headed for the scrapyard of history, and Jeremy White of Wired is not mourning. He slams the Cybertruck as an overhyped experiment that never lived up to its billing: produced for less than four years, plagued by recalls and design flaws, and now being phased out at Tesla's Texas factory to make room for the company's autonomous Cybercab. Despite Musk's boasts of "off the charts" demand and more than a million reservations, US sales remained modest, with under 50,000 delivered by March of last year and fewer than 12,000 sold in the first three quarters of this year, according to Kelley Blue Book data.

White runs through a string of safety issues and recalls, adding that internal documents flagged basic performance problems before launch. Yet Musk insists the Cybertruck is being sacrificed not because it failed, but because Cybercab is the future. White says he is curious if Musk's "obvious lies about the promise of the Cybertruck amount to fraud on the same level as Elizabeth Holmes or nah because it's Elon Musk. She bilked half a billion from entrepreneurs, he took $7 billion from 'normal' people (being generous) and delivered 71k piles of garbage." He notes that if "1/14th of those people feel completely scammed then it's the same level as Holmes (~5,000 individuals)." Read the full piece.

“White runs through a string of safety issues and recalls, adding that internal documents flagged basic performance problems before launch”

Oh good greif. Change “cybertruck” to “ford bronco” and it’s still an accurate article.

Or Ford trucks needing warranty work. Too few mechanics and none of them want to do warranty work. Not enough money in it.
