Reality TV dating show “Married at First Sight UK” has been axed in outrage after former cast members were accused of raping the women they were matched with.
Channel 4 confirmed Thursday that the dating series will not return after 10 seasons, following the investigation into allegations by three female contestants that they were attacked — with one saying her husband threatened to throw acid at her.
The broadcaster’s CEO, Priya Dogra, apologized to the women for “the distress they have clearly felt,” according to a news release.
The show — where singles are matched with strangers and meet for the first time at the altar — came under fire after two women alleged they were raped by their on-screen husbands, the BBC reported.
One of these women also alleged that her partner threatened her with an acid attack.
A third woman, Shona Manderson — the only woman publicly identified — accused her on-screen husband of a non-consensual sexual act, according to the BBC.
The accused men have denied the allegations. At least one male cast member has been arrested on suspicion of rape.
In a statement Thursday, Dogra said the decision to scrap the series followed an independent review of the show’s welfare procedures and the broadcaster’s handling of complaints.

They refuse to accept the primitive mindset of muslims.
Training British women to accept muslim barbarism.
An LE friend of mine said that if the [female] victim does not go to the police immediately, then rape is almost impossible to prove. Unless the guy actually texts them “Sorry for raping you that time.” And very often its a false allegation anyway.
My other thought is that it seems lately that “regret” = rape.
Hmm names of rapists not included, and one was an acid attack.
So, Muslim men.
I guess they didn’t realize marriage might involve intercourse. Not surprising given the intellect of anyone that would appear on that show.
What exactly do they think is going to happen during the commercial break? They expect a long courtship after a infinitesimal engagement?
I’ve never heard of the show. But how is it determined that these creeps were Muslims? It’s possible and it’s likely but I’m just curious.
Because they equate threats with wooing and rape with romance. They certainly aren’t out-populating Western civilization with looks and charm.
Acid attack is a well known Muslim thing.

packrat - I thought that the acide attack was a mo thing, but I was wrong.
UK criminal statistics and police data (such as from the Metropolitan Police) show that the vast majority of acid and corrosive substance attacks in Great Britain are committed by native British, non-Muslim men.
I haven’t watched this show, but briefly glanced at one “UK dating show” when I was in the UK in september - and all the participants were white - and the show was utterly disgusting, so much that I switched it off after a few minutes.
“rape” has joined “racism” on the list of meaningless words.
Yet Russell Brand just got convicted of a “rape” from 20 years ago.
What a stupid idea for a show.
Acid attacks has been a reoccurring theme in the UK. I do NOT watch this show and have no interest in it.
I will say that fake rape claims are getting out of hand, and I do not necessarily believe they actually occurred without more evidence. Speaking up months and years later is another reoccurring theme in today’s society.
Also, I would not rely of crime statistics supplied by the UK police. They have been caught doctoring or flat out omitting inconvienct facts when it comes to muslims and illegals.
Bimbo eruptions.
Rape is very serious. Rape is no big deal. It all depends on who we are talking about.
Quite apart from the rape allegations, shows like this trivialize and mock marriage and family. It’s all part of the movement to break down the foundations of Judeo-Christian civilization.
