WILDWOOD, Fla. — A 79-year-old man is accused of using a hammer to damage a doctor’s Tesla after becoming angry about two canceled surgeries, according to the Wildwood Police Department.
Police arrested Glen Lee Ong of The Villages on charges of criminal mischief causing at least $1,000 in damage and wearing a mask while committing a felony.
Officers responded Sept. 16 to Optimotion Orthopedics on East State Road 44 after employees heard two loud bangs outside the medical facility.
Police said a video recorded by the Tesla showed a masked man leave a red pickup truck and walk toward the doctor’s vehicle with a hammer. Investigators said the man struck the windshield twice before returning to the truck and leaving.
The damage was estimated at approximately $1,600.
The doctor initially told officers that he did not know who would damage his vehicle. During a follow-up investigation, however, he identified Ong as a former patient who had become upset after the doctor declined to perform surgery, according to the arrest report.
Officers went to Ong’s home Oct. 9 and questioned him about the incident.
According to the report, Ong initially denied being a patient at the facility, knowing the doctor and owning the red Chevrolet pickup shown in the video. Police said he later acknowledged owning a red truck but continued denying that the vehicle in investigators’ photographs belonged to him.
Officers then examined the truck in Ong’s garage. They said its license plate matched the one associated with him and found evidence that lettering visible on the truck’s rear window had been removed.
Police said Ong eventually admitted damaging the Tesla.
“That guy screwed me over, twice,” Ong told investigators, according to the report.
Ong said one procedure was canceled after he drank water before surgery and another was called off after he had prepared for the procedure. Police said Ong told them he wanted to hold the doctor accountable and teach him a lesson.
Investigators said Ong also admitted removing the truck’s license plate and window lettering because he did not want to be caught.

The first cancellation is on Ong.
The second…? its not clear.
Must be a colon procedure and Ong did not like “prepping.”
But yeah, piss off all the surgeons in that group. That’s always a good idea. This guy is going to be driving to Tampa for his next procedure.
Hmm... That photo does not look at all like hammer damage to me. Looks more like the good doctor ‘sideswiped’ something.
Don’t let me get near any Humana executive’s vehicles.
Sleazeball outfit
Odd that it is exclusively on the door...
I see there is a little damage on the panel below the door.
You are correct, it does not look like hammer damage.
Maybe a stock photo??
Also, the story only mentions windshield damage...
Since Covid, maybe he was lucky to have surgery cancelled considering the corruption among healthcare professionals.

Ah, that will buff right out.
I suspect Mr. Ong is on a Medicare Advantage plan, so it’s understandable that the doctor wouldn’t want to deal with him.
Agree, sideswiped something.
When your surgery prep instructions say “Nothing By Mouth” after X Hour in the morning, they mean exactly that.
I nearly had a surgery cancelled because a Nurse saw me removed a box of Tic Tacs from my pants pocket.
“Did you take one of these this morning?”
She was not joking.
When a patient is going to be under General Anesthesia, they don’t want the patient to cough up some undigested food that may get caught in the throat and cut off easy breathing.
So, they don’t say that just to be a Nag.
The article doesn't even mention body damage: "Investigators said the man struck the windshield twice before returning to the truck and leaving. The damage was estimated at approximately $1,600."
The punk wanted to “teach him a lesson.” Yeah, use a hammer. That’ll show him who’s the boss. Good thing the doctor denied him treatment.
and wearing a mask while committing a felony.
= = =
If a doctor gives a mRNA while wearing a mask, does that Count?
Is he a CITIZEN!

The doctor responded “Come on back. I’ll be glad to do some surgery on you - free of charge”.
