A winery co-owned by the husband of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., was shuttered amid fraud claims, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said.
Comer said over the weekend that the winery had been selling empty barrels to investors under the guise of "wine to be aged."
"I can tell you from our initial investigation of Omar and her financial disclosure form that there are multiple fronts where you could get a search warrant issued," Comer told Trey Gowdy on Fox News' "Sunday Night in America."
"First of all, not only was there a huge discrepancy in the financial disclosure form, there was the winery that was the big base of her $25 million listing on her financial disclosure form. That winery has, according to the press, been shut down because of fraud."
The winery, co-owned by the congresswoman's husband, Tim Mynett, shut down in April this year amid congressional scrutiny over Omar's finances.
His and his business partner's lawyers told the Minnesota Reformer, "Any suggestion that Will or Tim deliberately defrauded investors or otherwise consciously conspired to rip people off would be false and defamatory."
The revelation is not new, but it's one of several details that have resurfaced in recent days amid a federal probe into Omar's citizenship in the U.S.

We have the strongest economy in the entire world.
And it sometimes seems like 50% of our economy is just fraud.
We could all be so much richer if the powerful people would just stop stealing.
My hope is we find out just who it was buying her empty barrels of wine. And then see them prosecuted along side that loud mouth female somali pirate and her most recent legal husband.
It would be interesting to know if any of the “investors” were the recipients of some of the billions stolen from the government. That would close the money laundering loop.
Oh really Mr. Loudmouth TV guy Comer? Isn’t his committee the one that cleared Ilhan of any fraud?
OK-—so Omar didnt defraud anyone...........so who were these sap-happy
investors with a million bucks hanging around buying empty wine barrels?
Just when you think you’ve heard it all........Mynett says they got
“paid in grapes” on a business deal.....so they decided to open a winery.
ROTFLOL
I guess the million dollar investors were impressed
by all the vintage wine made in Somalia........../s.
Excellent question. And I’m sure they brought along a bunch of unknowing investors hoping to make money on the connections involved, just to make things a little murky if the law came down on them.
It was a laundry for her.
I guess, elites can do their own rules...
We shall ship no wine before it’s time but you can but empty barrels ,LOL
t the winery had been selling empty barrels to investors under the guise of “wine to be aged.”
or
the investors were part of the scam
reading the article the investors did not mind the fraud and make charges?
So, money laundering or potential money laundering.
Yes. Forrest Comer was also responisble for investigating the Biden corruption for all four years, culminating with hundreds of pointless Fox and Newsmax interviews and then a report that was summarily ignored and filed away. The guy is a total waste of space - typical Repukelican.
“ which is not supportive by rules of Muslims...
I guess, elites can do their own rules”
Why do Americans hold Muslims to a standard of honesty and obedience? Why do Americans think they know sharia? More than half of Americans don’t know their own declaration, can’t name the three branches of government.
Nobody was buying anything. It was a money laundry. It was there to show a legitimate source for the wealth she was accumulating. Trouble is, even a cursory investigation showed it wasn’t engaged in any business activity - a pure front.
Kudos to this jackass, who has taken the con of selling bottles of snake oil to a new height. Selling snake oil without actually any snake oil in the bottles.
