In the latest migrant sob story from the wokester press, San Diego County is reportedly having trouble finding translators for all those thousands of voters out there who don't speak English, with their ballots (who incidentally are also afraid of ICE).
According to inewsource:
The San Diego County Registrar of Voters is so far falling short of some of its goals for hiring bilingual poll workers speaking Vietnamese, Chinese and Filipino for each of the 220 vote centers. Federal law requires language assistance and voting materials to be provided in those languages — and in Spanish, where the county has secured enough fluent poll workers.
... and ...
The San Diego County Registrar of Voters’ Office exceeded its goal for hiring Spanish-speaking bilingual poll workers, with 237 hired as of Oct. 15.
But based on the numbers from mid-October, most vote centers will lack poll workers speaking Chinese, Filipino and Vietnamese, three of the four federally mandated languages. The county had enlisted 57 poll workers speaking Filipino, 36 speaking Chinese and 24 speaking Vietnamese.
For other languages covered under state and local laws, the county has so far hired far fewer.
As of mid-October, the Registrar’s Office has hired only one poll worker each who speaks Somali, Thai and Laotian and none who speak Hmong, Indonesian or Khmer. There are 23 poll workers who speak Arabic, seven who speak Persian, six who speak Hindi and five who speak Japanese.
Presumably, these people are paid. How does one 'exceed' a hiring goal and not blow out the county budget? The reporter didn't ask.

My county does not hire Ebonics translators so that I can communicate with my uppity leftist poll workers.
You can’t become a citizen without speaking English, right??
In most cases, that’s right!
So ... I hope the FedGov pushes back on this absurd request.
“ You can’t become a citizen without speaking English, right??”
This is exactly correct. Part of the naturalization exam is to speak with someone demonstrating your ability to converse in English. You must also be able to read English. I do not think any federal election document should be in any language other than English.
I say give them a choice - they can be shot instead.
Im watching Fox News and seeing anti-Lombardo ads here in Nevada in Spanish🙄.
LA feds move to halt ballot counting over 20K suspected noncitizen voters

Not when I was naturalized in 1970. I had to pass English proficiency & US Constitution knowledge test. Things have probably changed during Obama era.
The problem lies here:
- 'Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin in programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance. It says that no person in the United States may be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination under any such federally funded program or activity.' -
No person, not 'no citizen' as it should have been worded. One more of the long list of things Congress sorely needs to correct.
Ballots are in other languages than English?
Why??!!
“You can’t become a citizen without speaking English, right??”
Mostly - they do have exceptions for elderly parents of immigrants and probably a few others, like political dissidents.
Becoming a citizen requires learning English, so why does a citizen voter require assistance.
?
THIS IS AMERICA!
WE SPEAK, READ, WRITE AND VOTE IN ENGLISH!
EVERY BALLOT SHOULD BE PRESENTED IN ENGLISH!
IF YOU CAN’T READ IT, YOU CAN’T VOTE!
ALLOWING “TRANSLATORS” INTO THE VOTING BOOTH IS OFFENSIVE TO ME AND SHOULD BE OFFENSIVE TO EVERY AMERICAN CITIZEN!
THE VARIOUS LAWS ALLOWING NON-ENGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLE TO VOTE SHOULD BE, NAY! MUST BE CHANGED!
AMERICA HAS BECOME A TOWER OF BABEL [BABBLE]!
I, FOR ONE AM SERIOUSLY OFFENDED!
WHAT SAY YOU, FREEPERS!
[ALL CAPS FOR EFFECT — I’M PASSIONATE, NOT YELLING!]
If you cannot vote in English perhaps you should not vote. My wife voted yesterday in English. She is from Mexico and highly educated from the University of Texas. She is an engineer. Her brother recently acquired citizenship the legal way. It took him many years. His score was 100 on the test.
Hey, you guys remember the old days when San Diego had the reputation of being the only sanely governed large city in California?
I kinda miss the old days.
bkmrk, the troubles with 21,000,000 new doctors and engineers
If being able to vote were truly important to these people they would have bothered to learn English enough to do so. It’s the language of the USA.
It’s on new comers to learn it to function best here. How they heck can they cross a street, drive, take medication, and so many other things properly and without being a hazard to themself or others if they don’t understand the language here?
I REMEMBER THAT WHEN I LIVED IN SO CALIF-—OVER 33 YEARS AGO-—THE BALLOTS & ELECTION MATERIALS WERE BEING PRINTED IN OVER 63 DIFFERENT LANGUAGES & DIALECTS.
