Former Vice President Kamala Harris’ attempt to inspire voters at a Democratic rally in Mississippi fell flat Thursday after she was forced to repeat a confusing quote in a far-from-full high school gym.
“You know, I mentor a lot of young people, and I talk to them sometimes and part of the advice I give them is, you know, never let someone else with limited ability to see your capacity be a limitation on your ambition,” Harris said at the Columbus, Miss., rally for Democratic Senate hopeful Scott Colom.
The applause line received barely any reaction from the crowd, prompting the stunned former vice president to painfully deliver it again.
“Let me repeat that: Never let anybody else’s, somebody else’s limited ability to see your capacity to be a limitation on your ambition,” she said, eliciting more of a reaction from rally-goers.
“That’s their limitation. That’s not our limitation. That’s their limitation,” Harris continued, before delivering more of her trademark “word salad.”
“We are not limited in our ambition and desire and ability to see what is possible and what can be,” she told the crowd.
Colom, a state district attorney who is challenging incumbent Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) in the midterm elections, said his decision to invite the failed 2024 presidential candidate to stump for him raised eyebrows.
“Why would you do that?” Colom said he was asked.

Does she serve croutons with that word salad?
Well, you know, as she hangs out with so many Muslims, you may get croutons but you definitely won’t be getting any bacon bits ...
The proper construction is let + object + bare infinitive (let X be Y). The sentence as written gives us let … to be, which is ungrammatical.
On the other hand, I'd say that Harris has a great future in writing trite fortune cookie messages!

please clap.
please clap.
please clap.
please clap.
She is asking the public to give her the clap.
I think it would funny if there were hecklers that simply weep silently when these moments inevitably come up.
“Oh! What’s wrong?” people will ask the sufferers.
“That coconut talk! So sad. She really did fall out of a coconut tree, didn’t she?”
Harris fortune cookies is a great idea... I think you are on to something. l
“You know, I mentor a lot of young people, and I talk to them sometimes…”
________
Judging from her very strange daughter and her own sordid past, I wouldn’t let her around any “young people.”
Was she sober?
It’s physically impossible for a moron to mentor.
I don’t know why everyone is so hard on Kackling Kamala.
She’s schizophrenic, poorly controlled as she goes off her meds, self-medicates with alcohol - probably - she’s a VICTIM and can’t help herself.
[by the way, in psychiatry “word salad” is widely known as de facto evidence - aka “pathognomonic” - for schizophrenia]
Sure and she’ll make a FINE president!
