How many Americans actually just straight-up starve to death?
In the latest data, from 2024, there were 22 cases.
And not even one of them was about poverty making it unaffordable to obtain food.

Dinesh Joseph D’Souza, the Indian born film maker sent to prison on some trumped up charges by Obama’s DOJ said this. I have an Indian friend who told me he wants to become an American. I asked why and he said, “I want to live somewhere where the poorest people are grossly overweight.”
Even those complaining about their SNAP bennies being cut off tend towards the corpulent.

I think Hackman may have starved. But there were other causes, too. Sad.
People with advanced dementia often forget how to eat.
If they are not fed, they could starve themselves to dead.
Kind of like Gene Hackman.
He was badly emaciated when he died.
I hate the lying commercials on TV that “claim” 1 in 4 (was 1 in 5) “children” are “going to bed hungry” or in “food insecurity”.

Who hasn’t gone to bed “hungry”? I have. It’s usually late and I know I shouldn’t eat but I’m “hungry”.
Virtually no one in the US starved during the great depression either.
I can agree plenty of elderly starve to death. their bodies don’t absorb nutrients as well as used to, some skimp on meals due to cost or “not hungry” and some seriously do have swallowing issues which starts the cycle of eating less and the body seems to want less, so they continue to eat less or less often, while the body draws what it needs from the muscle and bones etc depleting nutrient levels as it uses up the person’s body in an effort to keep the main things going. At some point it can no longer be stopped even by doctors (if they cared to) and not so long after, they are gone. Not just people living on their own, I’ve noticed even care workers some times don’t even care whether those in their care eat or not and just let people slide into starvation/death. A number of times I noticed this happening and alerted family who didnt realize, so they could at least make changes and have the longest and best quality time with their loved ones, even if just a few more weeks or months.
The only time it’s due to money is when someone has a stroke and can’t swallow.
They get two weeks of therapy attempting to learn to swallow again. If they don’t, and don’t get a feeding tube, they get the drip of death as part of “comfort care”.
My answer is “not enough”.
I know, it sounds harsh, tough luck. The fact that there are none, means we are being taxed too much, and too many are sucking off the government teat.
Obese welfare ghettopotamusses everywhere, means Socialism is killing the rest of us.
Cut the benefits, make them work, and pay in, or starve.
We’ve probably lost a few to anorexia as well.
The only freakin way a child starves in this country are beacause their parents are spending every dime of the governmental financial assistance provided them on drugs, alcohol, whores, or all of the above.
Helluva lot more anorexic deaths than 22. Many vegetarians too.
