The feds raided at least two Brooklyn adult day cares Tuesday as part of a sweeping probe into more than 100 sites suspected of Medicaid fraud involving everything from money laundering to kickbacks, officials said.
The crackdown is part of a monthslong “massive effort to combat fraud and abuse” involving taxpayer dollars and some of the state’s most vulnerable people, Gov. Kathy Hochul said.
“We are targeting providers we believe who engaged in illegal activity ranging from money laundering to kickbacks to improper billing and other fraudulent activities,” Hochul said at an unrelated press conference.
The probe has been investigating more than 100 taxpayer-funded service providers “suspected of involvement in potential fraud or illegal activity,” the governor said in a later statement. It was not immediately clear how many have been found to be committing fraud.
Officers from law-enforcement agencies including Homeland Security Investigations were seen by The Post outside two of the suspected fraudulent adult day cares in Brooklyn.
Photos captured the agents carrying evidence boxes from the locations — one in Sunset Park and the other in Borough Park.
“Billing public programs for care, transportation or other services that were never provided is fraud, NOT a paperwork mistake,’’ HSI wrote on X.
An HSI spokeswoman confirmed in a statement to The Post that the agency was executing a “court-authorized law enforcement action,” though declined to comment further, citing an active investigation.

Someone got Kathy’s mind right.
Hochul, NY police announce 16 busts in statewide crackdown on $500K car insurance fraud: ‘We are onto you’
I’m sure every single federal, state or local government program is a money laundering operation.
They’re designed to operate that way.
I love how “no upper lip Hochul” is trying to take credit for a federal operation. Such a self serving POS!
16 suspects were busted across New York, with the highest concentration (7 arrests) in the Bronx, alongside cases in Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, Suffolk, Onondaga, Monroe, and Erie counties.
The suspects allegedly coordinated and deliberately caused car crashes, then filed bogus insurance and no-fault claims totaling close to $500,00.
The operation is part of an ongoing state effort to combat rampant staged collisions—New York previously recorded 1,729 staged crashes in a single year—which officials state help drive New York’s car insurance rates to some of the highest averages in the country.
Hochul says...I’m for this....Just forget that NYS is a santuary state thanks to me.
I am a firm believer that at least 33% of annual government expenditures go directly to fraud of some kind. That’s a low estimate.
it took FOUR ADULTS to write this!!!
I noticed the same thing.
Hey Kathy...keep a stiff upper lip!
Don't you remember group projects in school? You did all the work, everyone got the credit. Sorta like wealth redistribution.
They were the one not giving kickbacks to Kathy Hochul.
> ...sweeping probe into Medicaid fraud involving money-laundering, kickbacks...
Simple ‘fix’ (in fact, it’s the only valid/legal one): Eliminate the illegal/unconst. welfare state in ALL of its shapes, matters, forms & types
Unfort., the (R)N(C) would rather continue to violate the Constitution & Rights of the individual than be called mean names+
NOBODY is obligated to another.
Yep - and while it occurs in both Red and Blue states - it is more so in Blue states - and Blue metropolises on the Red states.
No kidding! What happened to “Feds have no right to be on sacred NYS soil kidnapping our hardworking citizens!”
That’s the bigger story here.
Kickbacks to politicians to ignore all the fraud and corruption going on? Well, I nevah! Don’t tell me that our democratically elected representatives are actually in it for the grift.
When you ask cui bono, the other have of the question is how are the politicians who let this go on benefitting. Our FBI must have been awfully complicit not to go back to basics and find out how politicians were profitting - other than Nanzi whose stock grift was right out there for everyone to see.
Quality Learing Centers, too.
On the contrary, not all government vendors and programs are the same. Example Deloitte and Gainwell are the 2 big welfare IT vendors.
In 2013-14 Deloitte intentionally designed fraud into their design of IES Integrated Eligibility System and its EMPI Enterprise Master Person Index.
In contrast, Gainwell has much less (if any) intentional fraud. In FRAUD WASTE ABUSE Gainwell receives the garbage data from Deloitte. The biggest FWA is the wasted money on processing the Deloitte garbage data that Gainwell receivs.
Do you have data that proves Blue are dirtier than Red?
I’ve been looking at the data for 15 years. Much of the data is not easy to find or use. But Blue CT has been the most aggressive at terminating contracts of FRAUDsters like Deloitte.
Here in GA in 2013-14 the Republican CIO of GA Dept of Community Health (Medicaid) went to great lengths to try to get Deloitte to properly design and develop IES Integrated Eligibility System...but failed. Deloitte won in the swamp when Republican Deal was governor and Deloitte has operated as FRAUD ever since.
