Bloomberg Gives $80 Million to Democrats as Money Floods in for Final Sprint
New York Times ^ | October 20, 2026 | Theodore Schleifer

Michael R. Bloomberg, the billionaire former mayor of New York, is giving roughly $80 million to help Democrats in the midterms as the flood of spending in the sprint to Election Day begins to come into focus. The first of two campaign finance filing deadlines this week will also provide a look at the Trump political operation’s big spending to help Republicans battle significant headwinds in midterm races.

Mr. Bloomberg is particularly focused on ensuring a sizable Democratic majority in the House of Representatives, the chamber that Democrats are most hopeful of flipping. We already know some details about what will be revealed in other finance filings: The Republican National Committee told The New York Times that it was finishing transfers of $50 million to the party-affiliated groups overseeing efforts to support candidates for the House and Senate.

Well if the socialist win, it will be fun to watch as they strip him down to his birthday suit.

If he thinks he is protected he’s wrong. The left always eats their own, along with the rest of us.

So much for saying “your donation counts” to the little people, when schmucks like this step in and make it rain whenever it’s needed.

He was a lifelong Democrat before switching to get the Republican nomination for NYC mayor. He made no pretense otherwise.

He might as well blast Texas with money, especially Central Texas, if he hasn't already. I've seen no sign of a campaign here by Paxton. We're getting mailers nearly daily from anti-Paxton forces (mainly his "aiding" pedophiles with an awful photo of him).

We're not in Austin. We're not in Travis County. But early voting today was downright depressing. Outside the polling area there was a person under a canopy with a sign and printed material to advise people to vote Democrat. No such competition from the Republicans or Paxton.

I'm f*cking re-living Silicon Valley from California in the early 1990s when the GOP just disappeared from the area.

Is Paxton even running? I haven’t seen anything from him in Wichita Falls. Talarico stuff is is everywhere. Republicans love being losers. I don’t get it.

Why the GOP ever let this life-long RAT run as a Republican for NY City Mayor when Rudy was term-limited, is something I will never understand. I've always wondered how much money Bloomberg paid the GOP for that seat.

There had never been term limits for the office of Mayor until 1993. That same year, a ballot referendum to limit the office to two terms, was introduced and passed. In that same election, Rudy Giuliani was elected Mayor. When Bloomberg was in his second term, he asked the City Council to give him a third term, and his RAT friends did, without putting it on the ballot as a referendum. Then when De Blasio was running for Mayor, the two-term limit was placed back on the ballot and passed.
