Students at the University of Colorado are in for some rocky news.
Boulder, the beautiful college town the CU calls home, is one of the most dangerous in America, according to a new study.
One the other hand, the Gators aren’t as perilous as they look. Gainesville, home of the University of Florida, is one of the safest college towns.
The study from Lesson Maker Pro evaluated 174 college towns — big and small — across seven safety metrics, tracking crimes from Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) violations and hate crimes to robberies and aggravated assaults.
Researchers culled data from the US Department of Education’s Campus Safety and Security Database and calculated crime rates per 10,000 students to determine which campuses are setting the standard for student safety — and which ones fall alarmingly short.
The most dangerous college town in America, according to the results, is Shreveport, Louisiana — home to Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, which reported 788 violent crimes per 100,000 students in 2024.
But Boulder, Colorado, was the runner-up. The University of Colorado, Boulder recorded the second-highest total rapes nationwide in 2024, with 96 rapes, according to data.
Nearly one-in-five women at CU-Boulder reported being sexually assaulted since arriving on campus, according to a 2024 survey — an increase from 15% in 2021, according to The Colorado Sun.

It’s a liberal state and even more liberal city...what do you expect?
Boulder is very, very far left.
People used to sit around smoking dope in public on the Pearl Street back in the 70s...
Things were probably a lot safer then. Stoned potheads tend not to be violent.
I question the article:
“Dallas: Southern Methodist University; University of Texas, Dallas; University of Dallas”
Neither SMU nor UTD are in Dallas.
“Tallahassee: Florida State University”
The list includes multiple schools for Dallas and Winston Salem, but omits Florida A&M in Tallahassee.
Time to play the race card.
I’m so glad at 72 years that for some MIRACULOUS bit of foresight, I chose to attend Maine Maritime Academy after high school.
It’s been a wild ride, but I’m ahead of the game. Not rich, but comfortable. I’m glad that my 39 year-old son followed in my hands-on path. The kid’s more on-the-ball and highly paid than I ever was.

It’s electric, but Ver.2.0 will evolve into a turbodiesel hot rod.
It's not called "The People's Republic of Boulder" for nothing.
Temple University has to be one of the most violent campuses. Bet they are not reporting black crime.
Nearly one-in-five women at CU-Boulder reported being sexually assaulted since arriving on campus, according to a 2024 survey — an increase from 15% in 2021, according to The Colorado Sun.
Right there I call BS. Remember a Liberal woman’s definition of sexual assault is very subjective. Reporting an assault is not the same thing as having someone arrested and criminally charged a or, even subject to Title IX hearing for students. What are the actual sexual assault stats for the city of Boulder?
Boulder is the Madison of Colorado.
I blame Mork from Ork, and that enabler Mindy.
I blame Mork from Ork, and that enabler Mindy.
I lived in Boulder in the ‘70s and I never saw that happen. The Boulder PD back then would have cuffed and stuffed anyone smoking dope in public in a heart beat.
Colorado is a “SANCTUARY STATE.” I believe that has a lot to do with it.
People will never lear there.
Last time I was in Boulder the traffic was horrible.
Looks like your son gives you a lot to be proud of. Good on him! and you too for raising him well.
The state of Florida don’t play. Unlike leftist shitholes, they really will hit you hard up to and including executions if you commit serious crimes.
