Holly Burns and about a dozen other girls walked away from a cross-country race in Washington on Tuesday.
They refused to compete against a male athlete who had started the season racing on the boys’ team.
When the race began, half of the girls competing, and the male athlete, took off running.
Burns and the other half of the girls slowly walked forward past the starting line, and then into the nearby tree line, sacrificing one of their high school competitions.
Footage of the protest has since gone viral across social media, igniting widespread awareness for one of the trans athlete incidents currently plaguing Washington state.
For Burns, a Camas High School runner, the decision to protest was reinforced by strength in numbers. Her parents, Kevin and Sarah Burns, told OutKick their daughter initially wanted to avoid "making waves."
"She wanted to kind of play it safe, so we, we weren't going to push it. We just kind of let her kind of feel it out. We told her that. We supported her whichever decision she tries to make," Kevins said.
But then her teammates began talking.
The girls shared their concerns. They decided to act together. And her parents backed her.
"The more I heard about her friends wanting to do something, the more I heard about her team wanting to do something, we definitely were in support of that," Kevin said.
"We told her, do what you think is best."

Can’t understand why more girls aren’t doing this - and the “supportive” parents sound wishy washy AF.
And there is no mention at all of the locker-room situation, which should be the real issue.
Yup, maybe the guys just want to see the women shower.
This is what it will take to end this. Girls/women have to stand up to this and say they will not be part of someone’s delusions. They will compete against the best female athletes, but not against average male ones.
That this is even being discussed (regularly and for years, now) indicates that our society has gone around the bend. Up is Down. Black is White. Men are Women. 2 + 2 = 5.
The purpose of such insane nonsense is to disorient and demoralize us. Why would anyone want to do such a thing? (A literal question for pondering... I think I know why....)
It would work better if instead of running away they ran toward the guy and beat the snot out of him.
I commend the author of the piece for referring to the male athlete simply as “the male athlete”, rather than using the made-up term “trans”.
Not only do the girls/women athletes need to boycott these events, but the whole world - parents, coaches, fans, everybody - needs to stop catering to this nonsense - starting with the phony terms and pronouns.
This policy lends itself to parents beating the ever lovin stew out of teachers, school admins, judges, who promote such nonsense. Believe me, if they treated my kid like that, I would have done so. I am shocked it hasn’t happened even once.

Agreed. If there is no such thing as girls and boys, why not be honest and repeal Title IX as totally absurd and a waste of time and money?
These girls who walked off should not be punished in any way, since they were deceived by outdated and totally mistaken Congressional dictates. Common decency requires the repeal of Title IX now!
Their goal is the destruction of Western Civilization, the US and Heterosexual norms, the feminization of men and the destruction of the family, this is just one of the fronts they attack from.

It seems like the whole Marxist strategy is based on inventing victim classes - and hyping narratives in order to pit us against each other. Women against men, poor against rich, black against white, Christian against Jew, whatever.
The weirdest one so far IMHO is queer against straight - which has morphed into this LGBTQ vs. straight.
What gets me is how fast everyone accepts the labels assigned to them by the Marxist agitators.. I actually think of myself as straight or heterosexual - but why should I have to even have a label? A normal person shouldn’t have to declare his normalcy..
But these labels and terms of division get infused into our language whether we like it or not it seems.
